I have been collecting the old wwf movies for about 2 years now and I have always wanted to get this very video. Well i did and i recently watched it , everyone said this was one of the classic pay per views and with out a doubt it is! First the pay per veiw kicks off with Bret hitman hart vs razor ramon , nothing extremely great about this contest but in th e end it kinda kept me glued to my seat , razor looks like hell get the win but bret pulls it off. Mr. Hughes vs. perfect was a good but short match , mr hughs had pretty much just entered the wwf and he was noted as a power house and he is kicking perfects but through the whole match but stupid mistake cost him. Hacksaw vs bigelow was good , short but good , duggan put up a fight but bigelow to much in the end. Tatanka vs. luger was a solid match , there was a 15 minute time limit and time expirered , people wanted it to keep going but ref said no. so since it was a draw bigelow got a bye to the finals. In the semi's bret and perfect faught and it was a great match it kept switching both ways back and back but bret gets the victory to put him and bigelow in the finals. The 8 man tag team match was not all that important to the event and not that great so ill skip it! The intercontinental belt was on the line shawn (champ) vs crush a good match but 2 doinks screw crush , can u say double vision! The world title was on the line between Challenger yokozuna vs (champ) Hulk hogan. A good match and yoko really showed wat he could do , in the end a camera man gets up on the aperon and fire explodes from the camera into hogans eyes costing him the belt and ending hogans reign in the wwf!Read more ›

The first annual "King Of The Ring" was one of those very rare nights where the WWF did not pander to the fan favorite crowd. It was the first time in awhile that I can remember the WWF ending a pay-per-view on a less-than-flattering note for the "good guys". Yokozuna defeated Hulk Hogan for the WWF Title and seemingly ended Hulkamania. Crush was once again screwed by two Doinks. Bret Hart won the King Of The Ring but had his celebration interuppted by Jerry Lawler and was assaulted.
This now-defunct PPV concept got weaker and weaker every year as they condenced it to a smaller event, many years later to fit in more of other matches. While the following year's event was without question, the best, and one of my favorite PPV's of that era, this KOTR event is excellent in its own right.
