4.0 out of 5 stars First Ever Six Pack Match!, September 30, 1999
This review is from: WWF: Unforgiven 1999 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
WWF Unforgiven 1999 had six title matches. The main event was the first ever six pack match for the vacant WWF Championship. The participants were HHH, Kane, Mankind, The Rock, The Big Show, and The British Bulldog. The special enforcer for this match was former champ Stone Cold Steve Austin. The first ever inter-gender WWF Intercontinental Title match took place as Champion-Jeff Jarrett defends his belt against Challenger-Chyna. WWF Tag Team Champions-New Age Outlaws vs. Challengers-Edge and Christian. WWF European Champion-Mark Henry vs. Challenger and former friend-D-Lo Brown. WWF Women's Champion-Ivory goes up against Challenger-Luna in a hardcore match. The WWF Hardcore Championship is on the line in a "Kennel From Hell" match as Champion-Al Snow takes on Challenger-Big Boss Man. Also included, Val Venis vs. Steve Blackman. The Acolytes vs. The Dudley Boyz. "Y2J" Chris Jericho goes one on one with X-Pac.

1.0 out of 5 stars WWF Unforgiven 1999, January 30, 2000

This review is from: WWF: Unforgiven 1999 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I don't know what that guy who gave this tape five stars is on, but I'd like some of it. Anything that makes this event seem watchable can't be a bad thing. Unforgiven was the worst American WWF pay-per-view of 1999. Top-liner aside, there wasn't a strong bout in site. For the record, here's what's on offer...

Val Venis faced Steve Blackman in a boring match, D-Lo brown took on Euro champ Mark Henry in a poor bout, Jeff Jarrett defended the I.C. strap against Chyna in a fair match, The Acolytes tangled with The Dudley Boyz in a lame brawl, Ivory retained her Women's title against Luna in a pathetic 'hardcore' match, World tag champs The New Age Outlaws locked horns with Edge and Christian in a disappointing bout, Al Snow faced The Big Bossman in an atrocious 'Kennel From Hell' match (which was, by far, the worst WWF match of 1999), Chris Jericho took on X-Pac in a huge let-down and in the main event, Triple H lifted the vacant WWF World title in a 'Six Pack match' with The Rock, Paul Wight, Davey Boy Smith, Kane and Mankind.

Avoid this tape like the plague.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unforgiven 1999, a great ppv, August 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: WWF: Unforgiven 1999 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This card on paper looks great. Its even better when its actually played out. The matches are all entertaining, despite a few dissapointments. Here is the card and my rating from a scale of 1-10

Opening match is Steve Blackman vs Val Venis. This match didn't have much going in to it, and because i find Blackman incredibly boring, i didn't expect much out of this match. Its pretty miserable, as the only part of the match i found interesting was the last 18 seconds of the match. oh well.
4 out of 10

Next is the first of 6 title matches, Euro title D'lo vs Mark Henry. This match unlike the first has an actual storyline. The match itself is not bad at all with several high spots, but despite that, Mark's sluggish wrestling ability ruins the match altogether. In any case, i give it a 7 out of 10

Here is the first ever Intergender I-C title match, and that would be the first of unfortunately, many, as so far in the WWE, Chyna has been the only woman to go for that title. Chyna vs Jarrett was not bad, but did anyone expect it to be good? Its CHYNA. you cant expect much out of someone so sloppy in the ring. This is no exception. Anyway, because of the odd "scab" referee storyline or whatever, the match ends in a surprising ending, but thank god Chyna didnt win. Oh darn it, she won the darn title next month anyway! Oh well...
7 out of 10

Acolytes vs Dudleyz Okay, this match was RIGHT when the Dudleyz came to the WWF, so no one really cared about them, and the Acolytes always just bit, so this match was basically really bad.
5 out of 10

Womens title Hardcore match between Ivory and Luna is actually decent. At that miserable time in the WWF, the champion, Ivory, only had 3 contenders to face that being Tori, Jackie, or Luna. They decided to pick Luna, but i think that if it was a 4 way match between them it would have been better. Anyway, a few high spots and some brutal moves done by both ladies earns this very rare good womans match an 8 out of 10

The Tag titles are on the line between New age Outlaws and E&C..The same "road dogg is practically killed during the match and tags Billy right at the end to a huge pop... I can't stand it, but thats basically how every NAO match is. My favorite saying, oh well. ... Again, like a few others on the card, the match only gets good right at the end.
7 out of 10

Kennel from Hell Hardcore title match between Al Snow and Big Bossman is actually not bad, but I HATE Bossman. Call me biased of untalented, old, should-be-retired wrestlers, if you feel the need. Al Snow is awesome in this match and actually takes a few good bumps. Anyway, i didn't see the point of the rotweilers on the outside, even with the storyline in tact, it was just stupid. Perhaps if Bossman was replaced by someone like Hardcore Holly, this match could have been awesome, but with Bossman (ugh) there, it was inevitably impossible just like the Hell in the Cell match at WM15.
6 out of 10

X-Pac vs Jericho
Right when Jericho came to the WWF he quickly latched on to Curtis Hughes as a bodyguard so basically during the match Curtis interferes several times. During the match, the crowd is drunk ...and cheering for some reason which literally ruins the match for me. Also, some "XPac is bad" chants were taking place, and i didnt understand why, as XPac was supposed to be extremely over as a babyface. Again, its the crowds fault. Aside from the ...crowd, the match is great, but with a bad DQ ending.
9 out of 10

6 Pack Challenge for the WWF title
Rock vs HHH vs Big Show vs Kane vs Mankind vs Bulldog with Stone Cold as the enforcer.
I can not stress enough the fact of how much multi-wrestler matches rule. The 6 only main eventers at the time, with Stone Cold being the 7th and the Enforcer, this match was bound to be awesome. All 7 men give it their all in this AWESOME match which i consider the best match from WWE programming since 1998 all throughout 2002. This 20 minute match i could watch over and over again. Its GREAT
10 out of 10

Despite my overall 7 average rating, i still consider this PPV the best one i own, and not simply for the main event, but for every match, no matter how boring each one got at certain points. JUST BUY THIS PPV, its worth it
