Scotty 2 Hotty & Albert vs Test & Christian
This match was alot boring. The referee allowed too much tag team interfearence. Otherwise, Albert picks up the victory for him and Scotty 2 Hotty with a powerbomb 2/5 Winner: Albert & Scotty 2 Hotty Edge(Champion) vs William Regal for the Intercontinental Championship This match was better than I thought. In the beggining Regal hits Edge on the ring post. There is a lot of high risk manuvers in the match. In the middle of the match Edge speats the steel steps. Regal tries to hit Edge with the bronx knuckles but Edge hits the spear. 3/5 Winner and still Intercontinental Champion Edge Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy Lita Special Guest Referee This was one of the best matches. Jeff Hardy does a lot of moves from the top rope. One time Matt Hardy catches him with a slam on the back. When Jeff Hardy goes to the top again and Matt Hardy tries to stop him but he gets slammed on his face and Jeff Hardy hits the Swantoon. Matt Hardy gets his foot on the bottom rope but Lita was only looking at the shoulders of Matt Hardy Winner: Jeff Hardy Dudely Boyz w/ Stacy Keibler(Champions) vs Big Show & Kane This was an awsome match. There were alot of near falls. Kane jumps from the top rope to the outside and Big Show strips her to her pannies. Then he spanks her. The Dudleys catch Big Show off guard and hit him with a catapult onto the exposed turnbuckle 3/5 Winner and still tag team champions The Dudley Boyz Rob Van Dam(Champion) vs Undertaker for the Hardcore Championship This match starts off in the crowd. Undertaker pushes the rail on the face of Rob Van Bam to start choking him. Rob Van Dam shoots some os the fluid of the fire extinguisher on Undertaker then he hits him with a trash can. Next Rob Van Dam jumbs from the seats above the exit sign and hits a croosbody. Undertaker hits Rob Van Dam's head on the screen on the entrance stage and tries for the lastride. Rob Van Dam reveres it and Undertaker gets hit with rolling thunder. Then gets hit with the Vandaminator. Then the Undertaker chokeslams Rob Van Da through the stage. 4/5 Winner and new Hardcore Champion Undertaker Trish Stratus(Championship) vs Jacqueline for the Womens Championship Trish Stratus keeps on getting kicked and backbody dropped. Then she gets the chick kick reversed. Next she gets slammed on her face. Trish Stratus hits a back slide and wins the match 2/5 Winner and still the Womens Champion Trish Stratus Kurt Angle vs Steve Austin(champion) for the WWF Championship There are a lot of suplexes in this match. Austin gets hit with a low blow and Angle hits the Angle Slam. Then he tries to hit the Stone Cold Stunner but instead Austin hits it. 4/5 Winner and still WWF Champion Steve Austin The Rock vs Y2J This was a good match. The Rock hits a DDT through a table and Vince tries to make The Rock loss after he goes for the People 's Elbow. Y2J gets a low blow and hits the Rock Bottom 5/5 Winner and new World Champion Y2J Steve Austin vs Y2J This match starts off with a Rock Bottom to Y2J and a chair shot to Austin. There is a lot of ring post shots and there is suplexes on the concreate floor. At the end Steve Austin hits Vince and gives Y2J The Walls of Jericho. Whilw Jericho is taping Booker T hits Austin with the title belt and Y2J wins 5/5 Winner and new Undisputed Champion Y2J

A great ppv to cap off a great year of wrestling!,
This review is from: WWF Vengeance 2001: One Undisputed Champion (DVD)
A lot of people put this ppv down because of the unexpected ending but I thaught it was a very good show. Listed below are my reviews of the matches.Albert & Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Christian & Test (Not a classic but a very solid opener) Edge vs. William Regal (A decent match with a good ending) Jaqueline vs. Trish (A great effort by both divas) Dudley Boyz vs. Big Show & Kane (The worst match on the card. The Big Show & Kane have no chemistry at all) RVD vs. Undertaker (The best hardcore match I have ever seen!. Taker is as sadistic as ever and RVD is in fine form) Kurt Angle vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (These two men have had many battles but this one stood out from the rest. A fantastic display by both competitors) Chris Jericho vs. The Rock (Another great match from the Jericho/Rock series. Shame about the ending though) Undisputed Title Match (A superb main event with both men being pushed to their absolute limits. Booker T interfears at the end and helps Jericho get the win) Verdict - There is not many bad points to this ppv. The Undertaker/rvd match along with the Angle/Austin match are worth buying this dvd for alone!.

This was actually a pretty decent PPV. It is an overall underrated PPV, which is surprising considering the first ever undisputed title is handed out in this match.
1. Scotty 2 Hotty & Albert vs. Test & Christian These were the early days of Test and Christian teaming together. Nothing to exciting here. Why is Albert still employed, and Scotty for that matter. (7/10) 2. Edge vs. William Regal (Intercontinental Title) This was the beginning of these two competitors fued. Unfortunately, the fued did not live up to the hype and really dragged on. Okay match. (7/10) 3. Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy This fued did not last long and good thing it didn't. I was really looking forward to this match. It was a complete dud. (4/10) 4. Dudley Boys vs. Big Show & Kane (WWF Tag Titles) Nothing too much went on in this match. It was more funny than anything. (6/10) 5. Rob Van Dam vs. Undertaker (Hardcore Title) One of the better matches of the night. These two actually mixed well together in this match and put on quite a performance. (8.5/10) 6. Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline (WWF Women's Title) Who cares? (3/10) 7. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle (Winner Gets A Shot At Undisputed Title Later In The Night) Very entertaining match. Probably the best match of the night. These two mix very well together. Although Angle can hang with anybody and make everyone look good. (9/10) 8. The Rock vs. Chris Jericho (Winner Gets A Shot At Undisputed Title Later In The Night) Decent match. It is not as good as their No Mercy 2001 and Royal Rumble 2002 title matches, but is good nonetheless. These two mesh well together as well. (8.5/10) 9. Austin/Angle winner vs. Rock/Jericho winner (To Become The First Ever Undisputed Champion) I don't want to give away the semi-final winners just in case you have not seen the PPV. Pretty good final match. Booker T makes an appearance. Surprise ending. (9/10) The main event matches on this PPV were good, but the undercard was horrible. The only real need to buy this DVD is for historical purposes. The matches were decent, but can be seen elsewhere on other PPV's. Overall Rating: 7/10

I did not see this event when it originally aired so this review is not impacted by whether it did or did not live up to the hype. I purchased it as a huge fan of Jericho who wanted a copy of the show that cemented his place in the industry and was not dissapointed :DScotty 2 Hotty & Albert vs. Christian & Test: Overall the show had a dissapointing undercard compared to some of the shows from that year but the better matches more than made up for it. Even if I was not such a huge Jericho fan I think I would have enjoyed this disc quite a bit.

WWE Vengeance was a great DVD. It was filled was great action. All, yes I mean all the matches were heart pounding. You could never guess what would happen next. The main events were great. There were 4 superstars, 3 main events, 2 titles on the line, and for the first time ever ONE Undisputed Champion. This movie is worth owning. Trust me because I've already seen this movie 5 times and I was there (in person)to see WWE Vengeance.

The day the Chris Jericho era began.......,
By the one and only "david" (I live south of Parts Unknown) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWF Vengeance 2001: One Undisputed Champion (DVD)
Vengeance 2001 marked the beginning of the Undisputed champion era. Many guys like; The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Triple H, The Rock, and Brock Lesnar won the title at different times in 2002. But the one man who won the title in the very beginning, held that title the longest of them all. That man is Chris Jericho and the event he won it at was Vengeance.
Test and Christian vs. Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert: These were two makeshift teams at the end of 2001, but they weren't as bad as the teams that were made at the end of 2004. A okay opener. Short match and it was weird seeing Albert and Scotty as a legit tag team but the action certainly wasn't bad. Funny moment when Christian went for the worm, but Albert nailed his "Baldobomb" to pin Christian. 7/10 Intercontinental Match Edge [Champion] vs William Regal: This is one of those types of rivalries that go on for months, but unfortunately this was one of those bad rivalries. Kinda like Cena and Kenzo Suzuki. The match itself was good, but really slow in some spots thanks to Regal. It was a little too old school from him than I could take. Good moment when Edge tried to spear Regal off the ring but hit the steps! Regal tried to use the brass knucks but Edge speared him to win. 7.5/10 Jeff vs. Matt Hardy: Poor Hardy Boyz, we will probably never see them again in the WWE. I hope that doesn't happen, but until the day comes when they return, watch old tapes with matches like this and others in them. Lita was the special guest referee in the match. Lots of high flying moves obviously, just look at who's in the ring. A lot ot Twist of Fates in this match, including one that Matt tried to do from the top rope, but Jeff hit his Swanton Bomb to win. 8/10 [Fair length match] Tag Team Championship Match Dudley Boyz [Champions] vs. Big Show and Kane: Both Kane and Big Show tore apart the Dudleys everytime they tagged each other in the ring. Another funny moment when Big Show actually pulled down Stacy Keibler's skirt! That sure got Jerry Lawler going! The Dudley Boyz win after Big Show's head hits the turnbuckle after he accidently hit Kane and then got the 3D. 8/10 Good match. Hardcore Championship Rob Van Dam [Champion] vs. The Undertaker I liked this match a lot, two very different styles meeting in a no holds barred enviroment. The match went all over the place, from the crowd to the backstage area. Taker used some chairs and RVD used a trash can at one point. Another cool part was when RVD hit the rolling thunder on Taker on the stage area! The ending was barbaric with RVD getting chokeslammed through 3 tables off the stage! The Undertaker winsto become the new champ. 9/10 Nice match Women's Championship Trish [Champion] vs. Jacqueline This was good for a women's championship. I never saw Jacqueline in a real type match for the Women's title, so it was new watching her fight Trish. The match was very short and Trish wins. After the match the two women shake hands. 7/10 World Heavyweight Championship Stone Cold Steve Austin [Champion] vs. Kurt Angle: Amazing match, both men worked well together. With Stone Cold using his brawling type moves against Angle's wrestling moves. One move that was great was when Angle gave the Figure Four to Austin while Austin's legs were wrapped around the ring post. Austin even used a lot of German Suplexes on Angle himself. The Rattlesnake won after giving the Stunner to Angle. 9/10 Good Match WCW Championship Match: The Rock [Champion] vs. Chris Jericho This was a good match. A lot better than their matches at the Royal Rumble 2002 and No Mercy of that year. The Rock even gave the DDT to Jericho through an announce table! Vince McMahon came out and distracted the ref. Then the Rock beat up McMahon, but Jericho hit a low blow and the Lionsault to become the WCW World Champion. 9/10 Good Match Undisputed Championship Match Steve Austin [WWF Champion] vs. Chris Jericho [WCW Champion] It was chaos right after Jericho pinned the Rock cause Austin came down to the ring, but then Angle came from behind with a chair and wasted The Rattlesnake. Then the Rock laid the Smackdown on Jericho with the Rock Bottom, then chased after Angle. Jericho hung out despite the fact that he literally had no time to rest. He even was backdropped off a table right onto the concrete. Vince McMahon and Ric Flair then come down the ring and Flair gets knocked out and then McMahon gets knocked out by Austin. The ending was a screwjob, Booker T comes down and nails Austin. Chris Jericho wins and becomes the first ever Undisputed Champion. 10/10 Great match, no matter who you were rooting for. Vengeance 2001 was a great ppv. Despite the opening match and the Women's match and the Intercontinental match the other 6 matches are well worth it. This was a great way to end 2001.

Quality on WWF DVDs continues to drop,
By A Customer
This review is from: WWF Vengeance 2001: One Undisputed Champion (DVD)
Instead of rating the content of the DVD's, I just offer my opinion about the quality of the presentation. A WWF Pay Per View event that I love, you could hate, and vice versa. But a cheap DVD is a cheap DVD.WWF Vengeance first aired on December 12, 2001 in San Diego, California, USA. This was the PPV event to tie up all the loose ends (multiple championship belts) left over from the Invasion storyline. Or something. The event was okay, but the DVD is very lacking. Once again WWFE punks us out and releases a bare-bones DVD with no extras and not even a "liner note" insert inside the case. How friggin' cheap can you get, McMahon? If we have to job to a $25 DVD at least have the decency to insert a paper liner note in the case like all the old WWF DVD's had. Toss us a bone. WWF Vengeance rating:

This was a very solid vengeance and a good end to a great year of ppvs. This ppv had the crowning of the first undisputed champion in Y2J Chris Jericho. Thanks for reading.
Scotty 2 hotty and Albert vs Test and Christian This was a average opener. Scotty and albert made a wierd tag team in my opinion. There were some funny spots in this one and a good ending, but this was nothing spectacular. Match Rating:2.75/5 Intercontinental Championship Edge vs. William Regal This was there first ppv bout of there 3 match ppv series. This match really suprised me and was better than expected. The edge and regal fued was kind of wierd in my point of view. Awesome moment in the match where edge missed regal and speared the steps. Regal tried to use the knucks to win, but instead edge got the spear and retained the ic belt. Match Rating:3.5/5 Special Ref:Lita Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy This was their first ppv bro vs. bro encounter. This match had alot of high flying offense by jeff and matt working on jeff's leg. Good moments in this one and some solid counters. Wierd ending in this match where matt's foot was on the rope, but lita didn't see it so she counted the 3 for jeff to win. These two had better matches like at wm 25 and backlash 09, but this one was still solid and watchable. Match Rating:3.5/5 WWE Tag Team Championships Dudley Boyz vs. Big Show and Kane I liked this match here. Kane and show made a solid tag team here. Nice moves and counters in this one and even a funny moment in the mid part of the match with big show and stacy kiebler. Solid tag team matchup. Match Rating:3.5/5 Hardcore Championship RVD vs. Undertaker Undertaker had just turned heel a couple of weeks before this match and it proved sucessful. Taker really dominated this match with rvd only getting a few high flying moves in. Most of the match was spent in the crowd and on the stage and was very brutal. Nice ending where taker chokeslams rvd of the stage through a couple of tables and pins him to win the hardcore championship. Match Rating:4.25/5 Women's Championship Thris Stratus vs. Jacqueline This was solid for a women's match. This had some nice counters and physical moves in this one. Match Rating: 3/5 WWE Championship Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle This was the first match of the 3 for the undisputed title. These two once again put on a solid match. The match went back and forth between austin and angle throghout. This match had many counters, chops to the chest, and tons of suplexes. Austin advances to the final by delivering a nice stunner to angle. Match Rating:4.5/5 World Championship The Rock vs. Chris Jericho This match topped thier royal rumble bout a month later, but still didn't live up to thier no mercy 01 encounter. This was match of the night in my opinion. This match was nicely paced and very physical and intense. Nice submissions pulled out by both men and solid counters. A very cool moment in the match where the rock ddts jericho through the announce table and Y2J's head literally bonces off the table. Really good match with jericho pulling it out after a low blow and a rock bottom. Match Rating:5/5 Final Championship Match To Determine The Undisputed Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho This matchup was crazy from the start. Before it even got started angle nailed austin with a chair and the rock gave jericho a rock bottom and then rocky chased kurt to the back. This match was also very physical and intense. Both men had a nice brawl on the outside in the mid part of the match. Mcmahon and flair got involved in this one with flair getting punched by mcmahon and then austin stomping on mcmahon like a thousand times. Ripoff ending where hebner was down and austin was making jericho tap and then booker t comes out and nailes austin with the belt and Y2J made the cover to win. Very solid match, but the wrong man won. Match Rating:4.5/5 This was a very solid ppv and was the mark of the undisputed title era which jericho still brags about today. I recommend this to your collection. Thanks for your time!

A great end to a great year in ppv's,
By Scotty M. "Little Nose" (Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WWF Vengeance 2001: One Undisputed Champion (DVD)
Vengeance crowned the first ever undisputed champion and this was just a good ending to a sensational year in ppv's. This was also Jerry Lawler's first commentated ppv in 2001 since No Way Out, so it was good to hear him back in action with JR.
It starts out with Mr. McMahon coming out to the ring to address the fans about the situation that happened the past Thursday on Smackdown with the whole Kiss my A55 thing. Ric Flair would come out to shut up McMahon and then the ppv would start. 1. Scotty 2 Hotty & Albert vs. Christian & Test The match started with a little brawl on the outside which led to the match in the ring. There were some very good brawling and impact moves. All four men look good in this one. There was some funny spots with S2H & Albert. I thought it had a pretty good ending. Pretty solid opening contest. 3.5/5 2. Intercontinental Championship Edge vs. William Regal Before the match started, Regal did a pretty good heel interview with the Coach. The match was pretty good with some nice counters with some good back and fourth action. Edge would go for the spear on the outside but would miss Regal and run right into the ring steps. Regal would find some brass knucks but doesn't get a chance to use them. Edge hit the spear out of thin air which was made the ending better to me. 3.5/5 3. Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy with Lita as the special Referee Pretty solid match up right here, and surprisingly the Hardys work pretty well against each other. Matt would try to work on Jeff's leg about mid way in the match so Jeff wouldn't be able to pull off any of his high flying Hardy offense. There were some pretty good counters and high risk. Some good wrestling moves applied as well. It had a pretty questionable ending but it worked in well. Good match. 4/5 4. WWE Tag Team Championship The Dudley Boyz w/ Stacy Keibler vs. Big Show and Kane I believe Show and Kane always made a good big man team. I believe they work well as a team and they make a good big team duo. There was some nice double team moves and a little high risk. A good funny spot with Show & Stacy mid way in the match. Some good hard shots too. A few nice counters as well. There was some miss cues on the part of Kane & Show which costed them the match. Pretty good tag match, I really enjoyed this one. 3.5/5 5. Hardcore Championship Undertaker vs. RVD It seemed in the early going that Undertaker was just over powering the smaller RVD. It had some pretty fast paced action. It soon would fall out into the crowd and get more hardcore out there. Some nice high aerial offense from Van Dam out there. Some nice weapon use. It had a pretty solid and hardcore ending. Good title match up. 4/5 6. Women's Championship Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline This was a pretty decent back and fourth women's match up. There were some nice physcial spots with some good wrestling moves and counters. Nice wrestled up women's contest right here. A little short but it served its purpose to set up the Undisputed title matches. 3/5 7. WWE Championship Kurt Angle vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin This match was very different from their previous ecounters but it was great though. It had some good wrestling and some good brawling. Austin really trys to ware down Angle in the beginning. Austin really works on Angles arm in this one. They really brawled each other out on the outside where Angle applied the figure four on Austin on the ring post. Some good reversals and good counters, just a great solid match up. 5/5 8. World Heavyweight Championship The Rock vs. Chris Jericho This was a pretty solid title match up as well. And this match to was different from their previous encounter from No Mercy. The match was more fast paced and more physical. Some nice wrestling moves used too by both men. It seemed to drag on a little bit but not that much. It had some good counters and I believed that this match was more personal then the Angle/Austin Match before. There were some few high risk and a good table spot as well. I wasn't really all too fond of the ending but it was good. Another good one right here. 4.5/5 9. Undisputed Championship Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho Before the match got under way, Angle would come out and hit Austin with a chair and the Rock would Rock Bottom Jericho. The match would then start and these two had a pretty good match up as well. They put on a good showing on the outside just beating on each other out there. Jericho took some hard slams on the hard exposed concrete floor. They put on some good brawling and some nice counters. Flair and McMahon would interfer which would set up their match at the Royal Rumble. It had a pretty cheap ending but it all fitted in. A nice solid undisputed match up. 4.5/5 Vengeance topped off and unbelieveable year of 2001. This is a great ppv to check out if yall haven't already. Pretty solid card. |
