Product Description

Guns blazing, the Messerschmitt Bf-109 screams through the clouds toward you. Instinctively you barrel-roll out of the way, hot lead missing your Spitfire by millimeters. You bank right, flank him and open fire!

I really like the interface for this game. Like all Wii games, it's very intuitive and natural to use. The game action is more-or-less realistic, and there's a lot of content. The graphics won't win any prizes, but they're certainly adequate to the purpose. However...

You can only play as Russian, German, or British. Which means no P51 Mustang, F-4U Corsair, or other great US planes. There's a choice of 1 fighter, fighter-bomber, and bomber for each nationality. So a grand total of 9 planes, 6 of which are inappropriate for any given mission.

Also, the mission unlocking progression stymied me pretty early. One of the first missions is a multi-target night bombing run with heavy air to air defenses. Chances are I'll get bored of trying to get past this, and ditch the game without ever seeing most of the other missions.

And maybe I was expecting a little too much, but it's just not that much fun. Feels like work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent arcade shoot em up, January 3, 2009

Take control of some of the best combat aircraft in WWII in this excellent arcade-style shoot em up. This is not a flight simulator, as the aircraft are relatively easy to fly and control. The trick is to keep your wits about you, fly like crazy, keep manoeuvring at all times, keep your eyes peeled, and keep shooting as enemy aircraft whizz past intent on shooting you down. With a general scenario that leads you through the war, you can take the sides of the Brits, Germans or Russians, which puts a different spin on things as you master one side and then switch to another. The odds tend to be stacked against you in the dogfights, but then that was what things were like for the Brits in the Battle of Britain! All in all, great fun, using the Wii controller to good effect!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasnt what i expecited but still good, September 26, 2009

In Combination with the Wii interface this game was truely a different experience when it comes to aviation games. I felt more like i was flying the plane than sitting there with a controler playing a video game. I wouldnt recomend this game for anyone who prefers sitting on the couch not moving much.

The story lines you can follow in this game also follow some of the major battles of WWII which was a nice touch.

The only issues i really had with this game were
1) the limited selection of planes you earn. the plane i know the best from WWII is the P-52 Mustang. it would have been exciting to see some more planes in this game.
2) in some of the battles the odds are crazy. i believe in one you are against like 18 plains and ur the only one. Or your misson is to sink ships and theres like 15 of them shooting at you plus 3 or 4 plames runnin you down.

Overall the game was alright and was a fun experience expecially when played with 2 people and a good one if ur looking for some history in your video games.
