This book is excellent!! The photography is incredible. The construction of the memorial is well documented at the end of the book, and is very interesting reading. The book consists primarily of photographs but with excellent captions. The photographer did a beautiful job of showing the beauty of this memorial, and I think all WWII vets will be proud to own this book.

I especially like the photographs of this book. I accompanied South Dakota WWII veterans visiting their memorial and this book was as colorful and clear as being there. I liked the background pictures of its construction phases. This book was able to include more pictures of details I did not spend much time gazing at. It made it possible to go back and refresh my memory as the small relief images are just as important as the larger parts of the memorial.
Having Bob Dole write the introduction was most appropriate as well. He was instrumental in getting this memorial completed and regularly visits veterans groups. I recommend this book for families of veterans, WWII vets themselves and even history teachers to have in their classroom!

My 84 yr. old Dad is a WWII Navy vet and I have him on the Honor Flight list to be treated to a trip to D.C. to see the memorial. I am going to be a volunteer on the flight. Until his name comes up for the flight, he is enjoying both the picture book as well as the wonderful DVD. What a nice way to honor those who served during this time of trouble for our country.

My father was a WW11 vet. and proud to have served. I lost him a few years ago. I registered him with the WW11 registry memorial of remembrances, and gave that certificate along with this book to my MOM for Christmas. She loves the book! It has wonderful pictures and is easy to read. I only wish my Dad could be here to experience this, as it reminds all of us of the sacrifices of many.

I had already been a recipient of "WWII Memorial: Jewel of the Mall" and was greatly pleased by the content and appearance of the book, but more so because of the wonderful spirit of gratitude, honor and debt that it expressed in its description by word and picture of the long overdue thank you to those who kept us free. Especially for those heroes who are unable to see the "Monument" in person.
It was for one of those vets, who is unable to get to the "monument" because of his health and remoteness from "Freedom Flight" locations. Hew was thankful and impressed. itchymitch

Have you seen the WWII Memorial? Just because you went there (as I did) you haven't really experienced it until you see Stephan R. Brown's exquisite photographs of it. I went there determined to be enthralled and moved. I wasn't until I saw these.
Somehow Brown found the most beautiful and moving places on the memorial (except for Kilroy) and made them even more beautiful and moving.
