Be prepared?,

This review is from: WWT Group L-202E EZ Lug Lugnut Wrench (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this lugnut wrench earlier this year in order to be prepared for my next flat tire, since lug nuts are now tightened by mechanics using air-compressor-driven wrenches, and I find it impossible to loosen them with a standard lug wrench. The first time I had a flat tire and needed to use this wrench--at night in a cold, relentless rain--the wrench's round, disk-like gearbox snapped in half.

I bought the EZ-lugnut to install my winter tires. I read the instructions and I proceed to remove the nut lugs, the first lug was removed fine, when I tried to remove the second one, the wrench snapped in half.

My next door neighbor is elderly and no longer drives. He gave me his EZ Lug Lugnut Wrench, still in its case and unused. I decided to rotate my tires myself and looked forward to not having to break the lug nuts loose by stomping on an arm of my regular X wrench.
The first two nuts broke free OK but on the third the device snapped in half. It was way past any warranty and the sales slip was long gone anyway, so there was no taking it back. As a gift it didn't cost me anything, so no big deal. I was impressed by the concept, however. If only the company had hired a professional engineer to calculate the stresses and design sufficient strength into it. I'm thankful I didn't invest the current going rate of $55 into this device. I'm sold on the concept and found a heavier but much stronger (not aluminum) and smaller Pittsburg brand lug nut force multiplier for only $25 from Harbor Freight. It comes with an assortment of nut sockets, all in a small, black, zippered leatherette carrying case only 3" X 4" X 8" that fits easily into the dashboard glove box of my Toyota. It has a detachable crank and works like a champ. Hope someone can benefit from my experience with the fragile and overpriced EZ.

This product has many parts that are too light weight or thin to work properly. The first time i tryed to use the gear wrench the socket that fit over the lug nut to hold the torque bent and slipped off the lug nut. The wrench did not loosen the lug nut before slipping off.

Good idea - cheap design,

The first time I used the wrench, the aluminum casing cracked in half. It appears that it cannot take extreme pressure when trying to loosen a very tight lugnut. This problem had been reported by other users as well. I received the wrench as a gift and tried to get the company (WWT Group)to replace it under warranty. They said No receipt, no replacement! This is an expensive tool, but cheaply made and is not backed up by the manufacturer/supplier.

The "leverage socket screw knob" has a design flaw, at least, when use with the extensions and on truck lugs. The bolt that is evidently spot welded into the knob breaks out. In our case there was rust between the bolt surface and the knob surface however we re-welded it and the bolt itself broke. This is because the loosness of the set up that puts the wrench in a bind with all the pressure being transfered to the knob. We cut down and ground down the sides of another extension and made a part that allows us to use it.

I found the instructions somewhat vague to interpret, but once I deciphered the tools instructions, it really performed well; extracting a difficult bolt with ease.

This is a heavily built high quality tool that is finely polished, has a good feel and looks good. This is obviously not a tool someone just slapped together with light or cheap stuff, it's the real deal. I torqued a lug nut to 100 foot pounds, then used this tool to loosen it and less than 15 foot pounds was required to loosen the nut. It comes in a nice case and packaged nicely with extra sockets, extensions and adapters. The company is just as top notch as the tool is with which to deal. Truly a no hassle get the job done experience.

No need to strain to remove a tight lug nut with this baby. I have used it several times and have one in each of my vehicles.
