First time I have heard Marco when my brother brought the single "De Waarheid" from Amsterdam in 1997.This year a bought the whole album. Music leaves you with the sense of completeness: you do not want to skip any tracks. The opening title track "De Waarheid", "Oud En Afgedankt","Jij hebt Mij Niet Nodig" and many others are lyrically powerful and emotional, they almost sound like the ballads of love, sadness, or happiness: full spectrum of human emotions! I do not speak Dutch, but the meaning can be sensed in melody of the music and expressive voice of Marco Borsato. It is a really great album that somehow summarizes what is the best in European Music.

The example of a perfect dutch album. The language is Dutch and therefore less suitable for non Dutch speaking listeners. In this Album you can listen to some up tempo but mostly sensible songs, which are about romance and relations. Definitely his best album, still improving since the first album.

His third CD in Dutch, and the first with mostly original compositions (for the first two he used a lot of Italian songs). This is a good CD that mainly contains ballads, which is the weak point of this CD: at some point songs sound too much the same. However, he has a strong voice and if you like ballads you should definitely have this. Dutch artists that you might like as well are Ruth Jacott and (although his voice is less powerful) Paul de Leeuw.

I lived in Amsterdam a couple of years ago, and one of the ways I learned Dutch was to listen to Dutch popular music. My Dutch host mother may not agree, but Marco Borsato was one of my favorites, and De Waarheid is a really neat album. I think even if I didn't understand the lyrics I'd buy this one!

Marco Borsato is one of the most popular singers in Holland, i'm from Holland myself and i think that song #11: "De Bestemming" is one of the best songs he ever made.

Although Marco Borsato's career has many weak commercial and less artistic elements, he has succeeded in gathering a group of very talented people around him and to make the best all-round pop album ever made in Holland. Don't listen to what dutch pop-experts say; just listen to the record and make your own judgement. The music will stand without translation.

Definitely a cd to be heard without programming! ALL of the songs are truly fantastic and ALL of them are equally good. Buy it!

Marco Borsato's best ever CD

this album is a fantastic one, i might say. i'm a big fan of marco and so is my girlfriend. the music is fabulous and the lyrics are beautiful, specially for the fans, who know what the songs go about. if you want some good dutch music, then you need this album in your collection!!!
