We love our Kinetic sand! I think it's amazing and I couldn't wait to play with it. My 3 year old agrees that it's awesome. He likes to make all kinds of things with it. Volcanoes, castles, pies etc. It's fun to shape and watch it trickle apart. Really mesmerizing. I would NOT buy it on here.

I've seen it go from $40-$50 for 2 lbs of sand!! Go to S&S worldwide and get it for $14.99 for 2.2lbs or $42.99 for 11 LBS OF SAND! Much better deal. FatBrain Toys also has good deals but they're always back-ordered on this sand. Check Retailmenot for coupon codes to get money off of your order. LOVE THIS SAND worth these prices... not this sellers price!! Ridiculous.

This stuff is awesome! Everyone in the house is addicted to it! As soon as I opened it, everyone had their hands in it and couldn't stop. This is good for all ages! I bought it mostly for myself, and I am 22 years old; however, the three children I'm caretaker for are 11, 13, and 15, and all of them love playing with it. Their 40-something parents also love it! Here's some pros and cons:

Pros:
-Fantastic to the touch!
-Very clean!
-Holds its shape well and has a fantastic texture!
-Doesn't have on offensive smell or taste. Yes, I tasted it, because if it is meant for young kids they will probably get it in their mouths. It has no flavor so it doesn't entice eating through smell or taste.
-Fantastic for play for hours! As it gets warmer, it gets softer, and is even more pleasant to play with!
-We left it out overnight. Didn't dry out!
-Handles well and is very enjoyable for all ages. Our autistic child adores the stuff and he enjoys playing with it just by himself sometimes. Very good for texture and focus!

Cons:
-It doesn't come with a container. It comes in a baggy so you have to get your own. I'd suggest something with a tight lid in case it gets dropped!
-It looks like brown sugar. EXACTLY ,like brown sugar, actually, so make sure to keep it away from the kitchen! Like I said, it has no taste and a smell that is obviously not food, but it still wouldn't risk it. It looks and packs a lot like brown sugar, which is comical but still don't keep it in the kitchen.
-This stuff WILL stick to your fingers. Not a lot, but it will. Just keep that in mind! Little tiny grains will stick to you and you'll have to wash them off with simple water. It's a tiny amount of stuff but it isn't completely non-stick like it says.

Well, first of all, Normal sand you can clump together into a ball, roll it around in you hands and make a little sand snowman out of it, sit back and admire your lack of artistic skills... well, Not this stuff.

You can clump it together into a ball for about six seconds, and then it starts to escape, crumbling at ever increasing speeds till your ball is a mass of instant erosion.

If you roll it around in your hands, it begins dribbling out the gaps, as if waiting for the first chance it gets.

If you make a little sandman, it quickly crumbles, as if pointing out the futility of your attempts at order, gleefully demonstrating entropy.

If you tightly pack it into a low center of gravity mass and stare at it... well, it just lies there and does nothing.

But if you attempt to add height to that mass, it mocks your attempts.

This is sand that does not behave well.

It's very naughty sand.

... Only it's made of sand, smells faintly like glue, and is not sticky.

If you're curious but don't want to spend the money, just take a handful of brown sugar and work it between your fingers. Watch how it feathers and crumbles through your fingers in slow motion, while at the same time it sticks to it's self, forming loose, fluffy, cloud-like piles that continue to move for a bit where they land. That's exactly how Kinetic Sand behaves, the only exception being, there's no unpleasant sticky residue left on your skin.
Kewl. But maybe not 20 bucks kewl. Like most of the curiosities I'm way too old to be squandering my hard-earned money on, I'll be donating this to my bff's nephew after the new wears off for me lol.

A note to parents or guardians considering this as a "natural" alternative to Play Dough for their kids: You should know that Kinetic Sand is just regular play sand mixed with silicones and binding agents to give it it's unique texture. It is not, as many seem to think, a different type of sand that was "mined from a secret location in Sweden," and that's why it feels so strange.
On WabaFun's website they have a safety data sheet that plainly says "product made of silicon dioxid and polydimethyl siloxane. No hazardous ingredients."

Only $15 at our local Parent Teacher store. And I was able to use a 20 percent coupon.
Kids(age 2, 4, 6) had hours of fun playing with this on a negative temperature snow day home from school. My 2 year old required a little help every so often and got frustrated at times.

It was a great sensory tool. And it was difficult to stop touching it (even for me as an adult)

Clean up was a little easier than playdoh. It was all over the floor but swept up easily. I probably will go back and vacuum tonight. The counter in kitchen wiped clean. I used plastic trays that I had bought at the dollar store years ago and it contained most of the sand. Small pieces of dirt and hair picked out of the sand pretty easily.

We played with this sand side by side with the Brookstone Sänd. I like the kinetic sand better. It felt a little less "wet" than the Brookstone brand. It also was able to hold a shape a little better/longer. I could compact it into a ball and make a snowman, but struggled to do the same with the brookstone brand. However, if they Were not side by side I would not be able to tell the difference. The Small box of Kinetic sand had more sand than the small tub of Brookstone Sänd.

I will give 5 stars on amazon if the price drops to a more reasonable price. I paid 1/3 this current price.
