We love our Kinetic sand! I think it's amazing and I couldn't wait to play with it. My 3 year old agrees that it's awesome. He likes to make all kinds of things with it. Volcanoes, castles, pies etc. It's fun to shape and watch it trickle apart. Really mesmerizing. I would NOT buy it on here.

I've seen it go from $40-$50 for 2 lbs of sand!! Go to S&S worldwide and get it for $14.99 for 2.2lbs or $42.99 for 11 LBS OF SAND! Much better deal. FatBrain Toys also has good deals but they're always back-ordered on this sand. Check Retailmenot for coupon codes to get money off of your order. LOVE THIS SAND worth these prices... not this sellers price!! Ridiculous.

Well, first of all, Normal sand you can clump together into a ball, roll it around in you hands and make a little sand snowman out of it, sit back and admire your lack of artistic skills... well, Not this stuff.

You can clump it together into a ball for about six seconds, and then it starts to escape, crumbling at ever increasing speeds till your ball is a mass of instant erosion.

If you roll it around in your hands, it begins dribbling out the gaps, as if waiting for the first chance it gets.

If you make a little sandman, it quickly crumbles, as if pointing out the futility of your attempts at order, gleefully demonstrating entropy.

If you tightly pack it into a low center of gravity mass and stare at it... well, it just lies there and does nothing.

But if you attempt to add height to that mass, it mocks your attempts.

This is sand that does not behave well.

It's very naughty sand.

This stuff is awesome. It feels unique in your hands and it's mesmerizing to watch it constantly crumble. From the video, I expected to be able to mold it a little more solidly than I can, but then having it always break apart is part of the fun. Also, 2.2 pounds of sand is more than you might think when it's all spread out on a table.

It's not quite as "clean" as the video describes it, either. It definitely left an oily residue on the table where I was playing with it. It's also a lie that it only sticks to itself. I would say it mostly sticks to itself, but there was some stuck to my hands and some even seemed to stick to the table when I was trying to put it away. Nothing a quick, soapy wipe-down can't remedy.

To everyone warning against getting it wet: the box states that if it gets wet, simply let it air dry somewhere with low humidity and it'll return to its original texture. Nothing long-term to worry about there.

There was a question of ingredients. It's covered by US patent 7,862,894 ([...] which says the binding agent is "a hydroxy-terminated polymer cross-linked by a boron compound, in particular a silicone oil". Some googling indicates that the "polydimethyl siloxane" B. Shivers suggested might be accurate, though I can find no definitive source. Certainly no phthalates.

All in all I'm happy to be able to play with this amazing substance!

This stuff is fun! I got it for my niece and nephew as a gift. If you fold it like a ball of dough it produces this really cool effect. I'd recommend picking some up!

This stuff is awesome! Everyone in the house is addicted to it! As soon as I opened it, everyone had their hands in it and couldn't stop. This is good for all ages! I bought it mostly for myself, and I am 22 years old; however, the three children I'm caretaker for are 11, 13, and 15, and all of them love playing with it. Their 40-something parents also love it! Here's some pros and cons:

Pros:
-Fantastic to the touch!
-Very clean!
-Holds its shape well and has a fantastic texture!
-Doesn't have on offensive smell or taste. Yes, I tasted it, because if it is meant for young kids they will probably get it in their mouths. It has no flavor so it doesn't entice eating through smell or taste.
-Fantastic for play for hours! As it gets warmer, it gets softer, and is even more pleasant to play with!
-We left it out overnight. Didn't dry out!
-Handles well and is very enjoyable for all ages. Our autistic child adores the stuff and he enjoys playing with it just by himself sometimes. Very good for texture and focus!

Cons:
-It doesn't come with a container. It comes in a baggy so you have to get your own. I'd suggest something with a tight lid in case it gets dropped!
-It looks like brown sugar. EXACTLY ,like brown sugar, actually, so make sure to keep it away from the kitchen! Like I said, it has no taste and a smell that is obviously not food, but it still wouldn't risk it. It looks and packs a lot like brown sugar, which is comical but still don't keep it in the kitchen.
-This stuff WILL stick to your fingers. Not a lot, but it will. Just keep that in mind! Little tiny grains will stick to you and you'll have to wash them off with simple water. It's a tiny amount of stuff but it isn't completely non-stick like it says.
