Because we have someone who loved nearly every type of sports ball out there, from soccer balls to tennis balls, this was a must, August 5, 2008
Okay, I've told you why we bought it. Our kid tried it at a friend's house and loved it. Think about this when you contemplate Christmas or that break for warm weather if you've had enough of snow and slush, later this year...this could be a great holiday gift.
It works in both swimming pools and oceans or anywhere with a decent sized body of water. Some cautions: test it first as it can be a bit much for small children. Our son, however, has been hitting baseballs and kicking soccer balls for years so this was no big deal to him.
Anyway, know your kid or family member. This ball really DOES bounce on water but you need to get the knack for it. It isn't hard, just takes a bit of practice, the kind you used to skip stones or learn to hit a ping pong ball. Once you've learned it, you'll be fine.
And then watch the fun begin! When it comes to a toy that allows kids to invent new games, get some exercise and just have fun, this one really is a winner. It is popular so I wouldn't wait because it could sell out.

Not only does it Bounce, it Skips like mad, May 31, 2008
Definately a really kool, fun, new, little toy for the lake or other body of water. It feels a little like a stress relief ball and is kinda squishy. If you have ever wanted to skip a rock like a pro with 20+ skips over 50 ft. this ball will help you to achieve that goal. and best yet, your "perfect" skipping rock... or uhh, ball will not sink and you can skip it again and again and to a friend.
For the heck of it i tried a few other balls on the water to see how they compared. Some worked similar, but none went as far or as fast or as many skips.
To make it "bounce" it needs to be thrown at a 45 degree angle or less. of course it is not a ball that you can dribble vertically on the water.
If you like skipping stuff on the water at all, BUY this ball! you wont regret it.
