The Idea of this game is cool. I bought this game hoping to be able to drive the cars from behind the wheel, you have to steer the car fom different camera angles out of your control from a tird person view.
The view of the course is limited and often confusing with so many cars in a small screen shot. The controls are difficult at best. try to steer your car while...

This review is from: Wacky Races: Crash and Dash (Video Game)
For those of you that don't know (or at least don't have the Boomerang channel), Wacky Races is a classic Hanna-Barbera series where a bunch of original characters race to the finish in their souped-up vehicles and win the prize in all sorts of amazing locations. It's also the series where the fiendish Dick Dastardly and the fair Penelope Pitstop got their first big break before they each got their own show.

"Crash and Dash" has seemed to capture the amazing feel of this series by putting you in the driver's seat of the Wacky Racers like Peter Perfect, the Slag Brothers, Professor Pat Pending, and the Ant Hill Mob. Even the race courses are also freely based on the show, too ! (i.e. "Oil's Well That Ends Well", "Why Oh Why Wyoming", and "Beat the Clock to Yellow Rock")

In this game, you'll crash, dash, and soar past the competition with special Wacky Widgets that will give you amazing Wacky Powers to use to your advantage. There are three different Wacky Powers for each racer plus a special Way-Out Wacky Power that will be even more useful in the race if you know how to work the Wii remote. Besides the Widgets scattered all over each track, keep an eye out for special pickups of character bios and their vehicles usually when you wreck an opponents car. Also, be sure you'll be able to earn a few Mad Dash Cogs during the race. You'll need 'em for the final stretch of the race.

Oops, I almost forgot. Look out for the sinister Dick Dastardly and his sniveling cur Muttley driving past you in their Mean Machine. They'll attempt to sabotage your position in first with a trap or two. Be prepared for those traps because you're gonna need skill to get past them.

All in all, this is one racing game that is real easy to enjoy whether you're a fan of the original cartoon or not. Trust me, it's a real blast - until you get blasted yourself.

The view of the course is limited and often confusing with so many cars in a small screen shot. The controls are difficult at best. try to steer your car while using a "special" to wreck your apponent, you will crash yourself. The "Traps" set by dd are the same 4 no matter how far you advance.
rent it, don't buy it.

First time I played it was awful.
But I gave it another try and it was fun.
With the wii you make the car go faster as fast as you shake your controller.
So you get a workout.

1.0 out of 5 stars This low-quality Wii title is no fun, December 16, 2008

Wow, this game is bad. My husband and I tried it and lasted about two races. Instead of a 1st-person racer like the awesome Mario Kart, this is a third person racer. Good luck picking your car out of the big tangle of tiny, poorly-rendered cars moving across the screen. The original cartoon has better graphics than this thing. Bad, bad, bad. If you really want to try it just rent it so you won't be disappointed that you paid 30-some dollars for this junk.

5.0 out of 5 stars and here they are the most daffy drivers ever to whorl there wheels in the wacky races!, June 17, 2010

by the way im 11.This is an awesome video game. it is very fun for a family too because it has multiplayer and the content is very good for kids. in this game 10 wacky racers are playable. which one isnt? Dick Dastardly! even though you can get his biography and his car you cant drive it. thats why i came up with an awesome way to pretend to be dastardly. you put your tag as DD or DDM for dick dastardly or dick dastardly and muttley. then you pick a wacky racer (red max and pat pending are cool because red max has a mustache like dastardly and pat pending has a shrink ray that almost crosses the line of cheating.) and try to wreck the other cars. all other wacky racers are playable though. the game is short though. however it has amazing replay value. as it has seemingly endless unlockables. plus when you are done with that you will still have fun doing a wacky race. me and my dad play this alot. we both love it! wacky races for dreamcast is also really good and if you like this you should get that. wacky races needs to have an improvement in playable characters like if you where able to play as miis and dastardly it whould be almost perfect. if you get it you will not regret it!

in this game you race across different areas that are from the episodes of the show. dick dastardly will set traps for you and you must pass the traps or end up in last place for a short while. this is also a great family game. 4 people can play at the same time.

4.0 out of 5 stars The race is on, June 9, 2010

This review is from: Wacky Races: Crash and Dash (Video Game)
Wacky Races: Crash and Dash is one of those rare examples where a television based game can actually come off as being fun. Players can pick to get behind the wheel of any of the cars (with the exception of the Mean Machine) and duke it out with the other racers on the track. The racers look really good, as do the tracks, and everything harkens back to the old cartoon. Even the announcer returns to give a play by play.
In this game, players race along the circuits in hopes to open more tracks for the wacky racers to compete. But this is no easy task. Instead of pushing an accelerator button, players have to shake the wii mote to speed up the car (or dash, as it's known in game). Steering is done via the control stick on the nunchuck. New to this version of the game is the "Way Out Wacky Power". This is a power linked directly to whichever racer you're controlling: for example, Penelope Pitstop has the ability to charm other drivers so they can't steer. Peter Perfect has a closeup that zooms in on him so the other racers can't compete. Pat Pending has a shrink ray, etcetera.
One more thing: the reason players can't be Dick Dastardly is because he appears in cut scenes, usually setting up mini games for the wacky racers to dodge his traps. Some of the mini games are fun while others are frustrating. you'll never know what you're going to get until you see the cartoon/cutscene begin.
Pros:
+Well done characters/cars.
+Varied race tracks
+Fun Mini Games.
+The ability to select your favorite wacky racer.

Cons:
-Arm gets tired after a few races.
-No ability to play with the Mean Machine
-Some powers *such as Pat Pending's Shrink Ray* are really hard to control.

I picked up this game for fifteen dollars, I actually don't recommend paying much more for it. It's fun, but with games like Mario Kart Wii out there, it can be quickly overlooked. Also when compared to Mario Kart, Wacky Races doesn't look like it can hold up quite well.

Classic Wii game, great fun! Sometimes, the side missions get a little repetitive, but the races are great. Highly recommended for those who use (or still use to!) to watch the cartoon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, December 29, 2008
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wacky Races: Crash and Dash (Video Game)
I'll try not to repeat what everyone else said but overall my suggestion is to rent or wait for the discount rack price. My 7yo son picked this one and we played it maybe an hour and hasn't looked at it since. The best part is that the cartoons are cute. That's the only good thing I can say and why I didn't give it a one star which I seriously considered.

The race is in the third person across the screen and it really is not a race. You can never get too far ahead or too far behind. Basically the game stops a few times for a mini game where the bad guys plant traps and you have to play a minigame to get past. However, there are only 4 minigames so you do the same ones over and over. If you win it puts you in first, if you lose it puts you in last which really doesn't matter because at the end it is a sprint and you pretty much all start off close together regardless of what position you were in during the "race". Also, the graphics are just terrible other than the cartoons.

For the people who gave this game a good rating they either work for the company or were smoking something funny. Save your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars dont let the great characters fool you.., November 5, 2008
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wacky Races: Crash and Dash (Video Game)
If you are going to get anything associted with this cartoon, get the complete series of this cartoon instead. Chances are you will enjoy that more than you will not enjoy playing this game. This is one of the most confusing racing games I have ever played. It scrolls from right to left which makes it difficult to tell where you are on the track and has mini games that should be simple but are incredibly difficult to complete.

Do yourself a favor and get any Hanna-Barbera cartoon instead of this game. You will be glad you avoided this confusing mess of a game and got and enjoyable cartoon instead.
