4.0 out of 5 stars Best available at the moment, January 26, 2007

This review is from: Wacom Cross Executive Pen - Capless (UPCROSS2) (Personal Computers)
I am an efficiency/business coach and a Tablet junkie. I love my Fujitsu T4210 and use it as my only computer. For me, having the best pen on the market was a must.

The capless Wacom Cross pen is the best available at any price. I prefer it to the Capped version, which is slow to use (have to take off the cap) and which is not as durable (the Cap actually broke apart, both the sleeve from the silver lining, and the clip itself)

I agree that the Pen could be improved by

a) more weight and

b) a textured or soft grip and

c) a second button (to allow for more options)

My recommendations/tweaks for Tablet users:

1) Download the latest drivers from the WACOM website. They provide more options for adjusting the calibration on your screen> I personally like to use my Button+Hovering for the right click option. It's a must faster and close-to-mouse way of using the pen.

2) For me, I've found that by swapping the conical tips that came with the Cross Pen for the vanilla lead tips that came with the standard Tablet pens yields a better response.

3) ALWAYS carry backup tips in your briefcase...just in case!

The cross pen is without a doubt one of the best penabled pens available on the market, which is not surprising since the market is cluttered with manufacture pens.

It is a properly weighted and slick piece, and is my main pain for tablet use. Those who are afraid of heavy pens need not apply, as it is much heftier than pens of the Bic variety. But for those raised on comfort grips and the like, this pen is perfect.

Response and writing feel are on par, if not better than any manufacture pens I've ever tried (this includes fujitsu and toshiba ones).

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Nubs, June 11, 2007

This review is from: Wacom Cross Executive Pen - Capless (UPCROSS2) (Personal Computers)
I have both the HP TC1100 and a Toshiba M400 Tablet PC's but I really don't like the included stylus with either for drawing or writing. The Cross Executive Pen has the hallmark weight and solid feel of a decent ink pen with nice nubs that foster a more natural drawing or note-taking session. I'm very fond of the pens button design because, unlike the HP's default stylus, there is rarely an accidental press that disrupts the state of concentration one falls into when drawing.

As many have mentioned, the cap option should be avoided because the cap tends to be tight enough that you can literally break the stylus when removing. There is also the issue of why someone needs a cap on a stylus since you have no cause to worry about dried ink...
