4.0 out of 5 stars Animals and how they move, September 6, 2009
This review is from: Hop, Waddle, Swim! (Fast Start Readers, Level 1) (Hardcover)
This cute book is about many different kinds of animals and insects and how they move. It's written by Michael Berenstain who is the son of Stan & Jan Berenstain who created and illustrated Berenstain Bears. Like his parents his illustration is very similar. The text rhymes and the animals are just plain cute.

My only problem with this book is that it says it for level 1 ages 4 and up, also there is no chart or explanation of how they divided the levels. This book has words that are not your standard level 1. To me level 1 should be words that your child can sound out. This is for children who know the English words like silent e and other rules. I think this would be a good book for those who are in the middle of 1st grade - really advanced readers.

We found this book at our local library and although there were some tricky sounding words my daughter enjoyed reading it and loved the illustrations.
