I had had my last rubbermade butter dish for about 25 years. So when it finnally didn't make it through the wash: I bought this one for me. The last of the children have left for college.SoI bought this beautiful. well made. Cherry butter dish for me just. Because I wanted a red one. I serves all my needs for serving butter and it matches all of my red kitchen accessories. It is a beautiful( as well a practical) addition to my kitchen.

I have vintage Fiesta as well as new Fiesta for my dinnerware, as well as other vintage patterns, such as Bauer. So I wanted a butter dish that matched.

I had a newer Fiesta butter dish, but they come with that little knobby on the top and me being as clumsy as I am, dropped the top on several occasions and went through two Fiesta butter dishes because the knobby breaks off.

So I looked around and found this one that closely resembles the Fiesta colors, but it didn't have the knobby. It's just a smoothly rounded top.

Upon arrival I was surprised at the size. It's a bit larger and rounder than the Fiesta, but it works perfectly. Grabbing your hand around the top, it is sturdy and when dropped, nothing breaks.

This red color is gorgeous and fits in with my dinnerware. I'm really happy with this cherry butter dish.

I love the Waechtersbach dishes. The colors are so vivid and rich. I have had the Cherry, Orange and Kiwi dishes over the years and have loved them all. My only complaint is that I wish they were microwavable... they get extremely hot and the glaze start to actually bubble up if you try. This doesn't apply to a butter-dish however so I gave this one all 5 stars!

I had a 'Lemon Peel' Waechtersbach butterdish for more than tens years. Finally chipped the glaze. I liked it so much I bought this Cherry one to replace it. The old one was labeled Waechtersbach Spain and this is Waechtersbach Germany, but the design is the same though the new one is slightly larger than the old one. I hope this one will last at least a decade too.
The old dish was tough, always hand washed. Surprised when it finally chipped.

The glaze is glossy and smooth; a rich red color.
The packaging was very protective - heavy shrink wrap holding the two pieces together in a box surrounded by packing peanuts.

I leave the butter on the counter. The few days a year its hot enough to melt the butter, the base with inner ridge contains the spill. LOL

I love this butter dish!! It holds an entire stick of butter, is heavy enough so my cat cannot push it off the shelf to eat the butter (which is why I had to buy this one) and is a vibrant rich red.

Thumbs up! We like the very sexy red finish, it fits in the butter compartment in our fridge, and it seems to be dishwasher safe. Yes, it is a bit bulky, but at least it can easily fit an entire stick of butter plus a little more. If we were to break this behemoth of a butter dish, we would buy the same one again.

Nice, but too big and heavy. Could not even fit in refrigerator door butter area and we have a very deep door.

It's a big red ceramic butterdish from Germany! It's huge compared to most butter dishes I've seen, but is of high quality and looks great.
