The salad plate is the only place setting piece that features the sunburst/flower. This is a pattern that works beautifully for casual dining all year-long, or just in the spring and summer to celebrate the return of the sun.

This set consists of four plates, each measuring 8-1/2 inches in diameter, perfect for not just salad but sandwiches, snacks, and desserts as well. The rimless coupe styling of Freestyle plates looks more contemporary and provides a broader surface area for eating and serving than rimmed plates. Known for superlative glazes, especially its vivid cherry red, Germany-based Waechtersbach has been producing ceramicware since 1832. I love this dinnerware. The salad plates are large enuf to use as luncheon plates. I also have the dinner plates, cereal bowls, regular mugs and the caffe latte mugs, some serving dishes and a few other odds & ends. I'm not sure why they are not recommended for use in the microwave. I've used almost all items in the microwave at some point or other - without any mishap.
