5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for
I hate huge coffee mugs that make your beverage cold before you can drink it and require a lot of effort to lift. These are very nice because they are a good size and shape and come in fun colors. They are also the type that don't chip easily.

3.0 out of 5 stars You CAN use these items in the microwave...
UPDATE: DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO MY ORIGINAL POST. I'VE BEEN USING THE MUGS, PLATES AND BOWLS IN THE MICROWAVE FOR MANY MONTHS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS AND NO CRAZING. I'D CHANGE MY RATING TO 5 STARS IF I COULD, BUT THE EDITING FEATURE DOESN'T ALLOW IT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, October 1, 2010

I hate huge, oversize coffee mugs--they just let my coffee get cold. These are the perfect size. They're also gorgeous--love the brilliant color, the large handle, everything about them. I'm adding plates from Waichtersbach to my wish list. (Now if only someone would tell me how to say Waichtersbach! Wak-ters-bak, maybe?)

Love the color and glaze. Would like to buy the same mug in a larger size for our Keurig coffee maker.

2.0 out of 5 stars Quality Does Not Warrant The Higher Price, December 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If they had cost less, I would rate these cups just okay. They are equal to the same design cups offered at almost every big box store for half the price. The problem I have with them is that at around $10 a cup, I expected a sturdier cup compared to the big box options.

On the positive side, the color is great. The cups are made with a "high fire" process which provides simply brilliant, deep, glossy color. They are obviously made in a high quality manner. The cups show no seam molds and the handles do not have that attached after the fact look of many cheap cups.

On the down side is the cups' frailty. These are advertised as earthenware, but are not the earthenware norm with which I am familiar. Compared to my other similar styled earthenware cups, these are very thin. Being so thin has already presented two problems for me. One is that my coffee chills down way too quickly. They do not hold heat for long at all.

The second frailty related problem is that they do not hold up to day to day use. I broke one of the cups the very first day while washing them before use. I simply knocked one against the other under water and it developed a long vertical crack. Yes, I should have noticed the thin walls of the cup and been more careful, or put them through the dishwasher to prevent over handling. Again, I was thinking of them as being like my other earthenware cups.

All in all, my advice would be to keep looking. The color might not be as deep and glossy, but you can find cups with as thin walls and little heat retention for a lot less.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coffee lover, September 8, 2011

A very good value for the money. A slightly thicker cup would be preferable so it would hold heat better but these work very well.

3.0 out of 5 stars mixed review, August 23, 2011

The caffe latte cups are lightweight, fun color, and the handle stays neutral in temperature when placed in the microwave. However, they easily chip. My husband and I are the only ones using them with dishwasher care, one has chipped within a few short weeks of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazed I found them again! I have been looking for years!, February 27, 2011

I bought two of these cherry mugs several years ago at Pier One, and didn't know where to find them again until now. I love the beautiful true red color, the light weight, the durability, the lovely shape, the continued shine after many washings in the dishwasher, and the perfect size for just the right amount of coffee. It is such a pleasure to lift a mug that does not weigh down my wrist yet has the heat-holding of a substantial coffee mug. I plan to start collecting this brand and see if all their other colors are so brilliant. Fiesta brand is too heavy for me to lift, although they have some nice colors as well. Waechtersbach brand is fun for someone who loves to see brilliant color and shine in casual dinnerware. And it won't hurt your wrist to lift! Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality dishware, May 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I absolutely loved the look and the price of this dishware but it has not held up well at all. I bought 8 sets and all of the salad plates, coffee cups, and bowls have all cracked or have huge chips in them. The dinner plates are the only things that haven't chipped. I am very dissatisfied with this product and am looking to buy all new dishes.
