I paint mostly WW2 28mm miniatures many of which are SS. The SS were an elite branch of the axis army. Many wore dotted camo patterns and this book has many close-up pics of the patterns so one can recreate them. Very nice addition to my collection. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the uniforms of WW2.

A very nice book. Lots of color pictures of what appears to be original uniforms. In fact, some of the uniforms were faded and/or torn a bit, so they must have been the real thing. A good buy!!

Amazing pictures of all wafen SS camo uniforms from many angles. Very useful information source for uniform collectors and military modellers.

This book is essentially a dramatic display of a large, single collection of original SS Camo uniforms. Models/reenactors are posed in various situations to show off the items being discribed in the text. Both the text and the photos are good. There are even a few unusual items displayed.

The book's only weakness is the limitations of the collection it displays. This book is not a comprehensive catalog of Waffen SS uniforms or camo.

Can you see about as much or maybe even more in an illustrated reenacting supply catalog? Probably; but it wouldn't be all original material in good-quality color close-up photos.

If you want to check your reproduction items against the real thing but don't have access to originals, here's a way to do it. Just be prepared for the possibility of not finding everything, or exactly what you're looking for.

Bottom line: if money is tight and you are looking for an extensive reference book on Waffen SS field unifoms and equipment, this is not it. If you want to do some comparisons or just want to see a good selection of original items being worn in realistic settings, then this is it.

If you are a modeler and need patterns for Waffen s.s.camo smocks,jackets etc. what better way than to see the actual item in use? That is what you get with these books;the real thing worn by models in wartime settings;done very well!The pictures are super!Most with a front and back view.The authors are collectors as I see it and they are putting their collections on display;so to speak.As I said if you do miniatures ,as I do,then this is perfect!A wide range of camo patterns are shown as well as regular uniforms, including winter whites.T.M.L.

I paint WWII miniatures as a hobby and I found this book to be an excellent source of color photo reference of period uniforms from which to base my painting on. The book offers great color photos of a wide variety of different uniforms as well as providing historical detail as to the issue, use, production, etc. I highly recommend this book for anyone with similar hobby needs or just interested in the period in general.

This book, Waffen-SS Uniforms: In Colour Photographs is, without a doubt, a MUST HAVE for any WWII library! Although one of the earlier reviewers stated that the uniforms were mostly reproductions, he is wrong, as pretty much everything in this book is real! You won't get this kind of great colour photos in any book this cheaply -- if you don't buy it, you're an idiot!

This is one of those small lightweight paperback volumes, but it is loaded with fantastic photos of ORIGINAL Waffen SS gear and uniforms being worn in the field in modern full-color photos. I believe most of these uniforms are in large private collections in England or in English museums, so this provides you with a very rare opportunity to see what the original uniforms looked like, in color, being worn out in the field and in everyday situations. If you're a reenactor and want to get your impression down to a fine art, this book is certainly well worth getting.

A VERY GOOD BASIC PHOTOGRAPHIC REFERENCE. TEXT DOES NOT "DRILL DOWN" IN DETAIL AS COMPARED TO "DEUTSCHE SOLDATEN" OR "USMC UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT 1941-45." STILL, FOR THE PRICE, THIS IS WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT. RECOMMENDED.

This little book is a little gem, is not a very expensive title, but it works fine. The selection and descriptions of the different uniforms and components is clear and as far as I now free of mistakes. One of it's best shots are some of the same model, with the same camouflage suit a different hours, and different angles in relation with the sun. You can clearly see the huge difference and variation in colors that this can do at the moment of interpreting an old photograph and then using as reference for things like figure painting. Is a very good book.
