Okay in a general situation, not much of an eye-opener,

Okay, so I posted a review for this item already but it never made it up so I am posting again. After receiving a defective (and almost used-looking) emergency flare light, I received the replacement from Amazon after filing a replacement claim. After trying it out in the daytime and the night time, I must say that it's a good deal for the money, however don't expect this thing to even come close to the visual effectiveness of a real flare. Flares usually burn a brighter "red" than the typical tail light of a car. The red covering on the top flashing LED's are almost identical to the average tail light and may not be noticed on a busy highway or busy road. With this in mind, the flashing operation would contribute to being noticed, but I would have liked to see stronger LED's etc. What is good about this light is that the LED's are omni-directional and it can be seen from 360 degrees. The flashlight portion of the device is solid, and it spreads a decent beam of light out. As far as durability is concerned, the actual flashlight itself is build solid, but the flimsy legs seem like if it is stationed on the side of the road and someone knocks into it or drops something on it, that a leg could break off or what-not. However, since the legs are so flimsy, they might just bend, but not actually snap. Who knows...
Overall, I think it's a great deal for the price...and it would actually be worth buying more than one to have in the car in case of an emergency situation. NOTE: if they had a switch where you could turn on an "SOS" flashing pattern with the red LED's...that would be great. i think that's something the manufacturer should keep in mind when they design their next light.

A very good concept, but poorly executed. These are flimsily constructed of a very brittle plastic that doesn't hold up well in the trunk of a car. Unless you can pack them away in a padded case and handle them with kid gloves, they are likely to fall apart before you ever need to use them.

Really not very well made. It does not have LED bulbs so batteries will not last long. I like the fact it will stand up like a tripod. That's about it. other than that it is an expensive, cheaply made flashlight.
