Inverter once over,

This review is from: Wagan EL2206 Elite 3000 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Automotive)
I am no expert in inverters or electrical systems therefore rely on electrical products meeting national or international standards. I inspected the inverter and noticed one of the input terminals had one or two arc burns. The front of the panel had a scratch that was painted over with what looked like a felt pen. I could not find a lable with a serial number or indication of meeting national or international standads such as CSA, ISO, EN, CE, UL etc.
I was concerned and borrowed a scope to analyze the sine wave. The sine wave looked good with only minor distortion at one small point. I found the unit created some noise in a radio plugged into the inverter and in a portable radio within a few feet of the unit. The portable radio noise fell off quickley with distance. The in line interference I felt could be filtered out for sensitive equipment. I was prepared to risk keeping the unit as it seemed to perform reasonably. I did however want a unit that was unmarked so I returned the unit to amazon. I do not at this time have a replacement unit.

This was the second one of these inverters I bought thru Amazon. The first one would go into fault mode the instant you turned it on and this one was dead on arrival. I asked for a refund and my money was promptly refunded. George

I bought this inverter in Aug of 2010 as a whole house inverter for my Class C RV. The unit is rated at 3000 Watt continous, so I put a 20 Amp fuse on the output just to be safe. The fuse would blow if I put more than 2400 wat load on the unit. I finally got the unit fully installed with the appropriate transfer switches this summer, and it worked flawlessly for a couple month. Then last weekend the unit had no output. I checked and the fault light was on. I reset the unit and restarted it and BANG!! out came a short flash and a bunch of smoke. BTW the 20 Amp fuse never blew. Now I am left wondering what to do with a crispy $700.00 inverter - it is not heavy enough to hold my boat in place. Guess I will try contacting the MFG and see If I have any options.

I ordered the Wagan El 2206 Elite 3000 Inverter and was very unsatisfied with its performance. When plugging in my Mac computer, it would cause the computer to be dysfunctional. Even my small little 300 watt car inverter from Radio Shack performed better with my electronics. I returned it and am getting a different brand and model all together.

True Pure Sine,
This review is from: Wagan EL2206 Elite 3000 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Automotive)
This unit ran multiple applications and is has true pure sine technology. I was able to run my gaming system and LCD television (among other items) with no interference. I would highly recommend!
