We've been feeding our dogs these for around a decade, so I was shocked to see all the health warnings from other pet owners on amazon. I would never want to encourage anyone into putting their dog's health at risk, so it would seem that caution is prudent, but our experience has been far from negative with no signs of any health risks to any of our pets. We have three...

My beagle absolutely loves these, but we think they may have gotten him sick. He started having diarrhea, which stopped when he went on an exclusive chicken and rice diet. Once he was better, we stayed with the same diet, but gave him a tiny bit of the chicken treat (because we thought it was healthy -- it's just chicken, right?). The diarrhea was back almost immediately. After the Walmart recall this week of a different brand of chicken strips, I'm scared to give these to him anymore. I don't care it's irradiated or not, something's not right with this food. Chicken is a hard meat to process -- lots of bacteria. I'd rather be safe with food from a responsible, high-end, organic pet food company than risk my dog's health with this product.

This post is in response to the death of my dog Chelsea. My dog was a healthy border collie mix. She had shown no signs of any illness until one night I come home to find her lethargic at the bottom of the stairs. She could not move or stand up. Thankfully we have a 24 hour vet nearby. She was taken immediately and given a check up and had blood work done. The blood work came back with high spikes in her liver enzymes which the vet said was due to something that she ingested. The only thing that that had been introduced to her diet recently was Waggin Train chicken jerky treats. I had been feeding them to my dog for a few months (she loved them). I immediately stopped feeding her the treats. After being off the treats for a week she had another round of blood work and her liver enzymes started to return to normal. We had 1 more round of blood scheduled in 2 weeks to make sure that her liver has returned to normal. But unfortunately Chelsea did not live that long. I woke up on the morning of May 30th to her having a Gran Mal Seizure due to high toxin levels and she died in my arms. After her death I started researching Waggin Train Jerky treats and was amazed to find the large number of people that had posted instances of illness or death of their pet and they felt very strongly that the treats contributed to the illness or death. The FDA has issued an advisory concerning the feeding of chicken jerky products from China. Based on the fact that my dog had high liver enzymes and the vet attributed it to her ingesting something toxic and the fact that her liver enzymes started to return to normal after I stopped feeding her the treats I believe that the Waggin Train chicken jerky treats that I had been feeding her contributed to her death. I am not saying that every treat or every bag is dangerous but with them coming from China you never know what was added to them in the Chinese facility. My suggestion, stay away from them and you will also stay away from a $1000.00 vet bill like I had as well as the loss of a pet. JUST BEWARE. If you have experienced similar problems pass the word around. You can also file a complaint with the FDA. My suggestion is to do your own research, just Google waggin train jerky illness. You can read comments from other pet owners and make you own decision as to whether you want to feed this brand of treat or any other that is imported from China to your pet. I am posting this in memory of my beloved Chelsea and hope that the post will help to save the life of other pets. As consumers we should be able to question the safety of a product if we feel that it has caused harm. After my first post a friend that Lives in Las Vegas said that they had given their dog these treats and their dog had bloody diarrhea so they stopped feeding their dog the treats and their dogs bowels returned to normal.

I've been feeding my dogs this product for 2 years. However, recently many animals have become sickened after eating it. Google the product name and you will be dismayed to read the stories. Please do your own research before buying this product.

Our dog loves chicken treats, but got very sick after recently eating these treats. $700 of vet bills later and our pet is doing much better. I know it is this product because we gave the treats to a friend's dog and his dog got sick as well! This product is made in China. I will no longer buy any type of food prduct from there until their corporations take quality control seriously.

I just had to put my very loved friend to sleep because of this product. I only fed him 3 pieces. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS GARBAGE TO YOUR DOG! He had severe kidney and liver damage and vomited, urinated and defecated blood for 2 days. There are MANY owners who have lost their pets, or saved them only to live life with damaged organs. I plan to make it a crusade to rid the market of this poison. The product I purchased was from Costco, and the lot number is NJ 45. You may think you are buying a fantastic luxury treat for your friend (as I did), but you are actually buying a possible death sentence for your beloved pet. I kept the remainder of the bag and plan to test the heck out of it. The makers of Waggin Train better beware, if I find something that caused my dog's death you will never sell anything again.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!

Multiple users of these dog "treats" have reported that they cause kidney damage from melanine toxicity. PLEASE SEE http://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/NewsEvents/CVMUpdates/UCM054448 FOR THE FDA WARNING AGAINST THESE TREATS!

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT SAFE, August 23, 2007
By
This review is from: Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders 40oz (Misc.)
For those skeptics out there, I urge you to check your facts before responding to this review.

My dog became violently ill after eating these. Vomitting, diarrhea, fatigue, lost appetite and thirst.

I called the FDA and they have had numerous complaints about these treats. Call them yourself if you do not believe it. All lots beginning with 94 seem to be contaminated. Dogs have died....please don't buy these.

The media and news is not clear on this....in Albuquerque these treats have been pulled off the shelves of Wal-Mart, Petsmart, and PetCo. Check for yourself.

DON'T BUY NOT SAFE

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid these treats!!, November 25, 2007

Avoid Waggin Train jerky treats...and Duck treats....ANY treats made in China!!! My dogs almost died from eating this stuff before i caught on and researched it on the internet.Found a TON of complaints about this stuff. You already know that China purposely put lead on children's toys....do you really think they would care much how they make a DOG'S treat?
My dogs both had chronic diarrea and ate grass and threw up all the time and were becoming listless. I have been feeding this stuff to them for quite a few months, but i believe it has become bad lately. When i stopped the treats, both dogs were normal within a week. That's good enough for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Believe me...these are not worth the health hazard!, March 10, 2008
This review is from: Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders 40oz (Misc.)
I bought these treats awhile back thinking they were going to be a healthy treat for my dogs. They loved them, and for several days I broke off pieces and gave them these treats whenever they came begging. Well, they all became deathly ill. After days on i.v., numerous follow-up visits, and steep vet bills, I got my dogs back, but at a price. All have suffered kidney damage. None will live to be an old dog.
It was a tough time for my whole family, and an even tougher time for the dogs. Spend the $ you would spend on these on a cheap dehydrator and make your own.
