I drink chai in all of its forms, from the Masala to the Oregonian to the Starbuckian. The Indian recipes have always been my favorite, and as I ran out of the Masala Chai my daughter brought me back from India I began looking for a rich replacement. In the end I came to these Amazon reviews and offerings, and ultimately ordered the Wagh Bakri bags.

Their chai is, in my opinion, mediocre at best. Heavily colored, with strong black tea but less of the spice recipe that makes chai a delicious adventure. It is certainly not "India's Best Tea", and I won't be ordering this item again.

This chai is TERRIBLE.

Bad bad decision buying this....
I should've known when the box said "special international blend" and "for export only" ....
Kinda like *wink wink* *nudge nudge* "really bad masala and left over chai powder to sell to stupid americans and europeans"

I was curious to see the reviews, and couldn't believe what I am seeing....
The review that said "mediocre at best" was really putting it lightly.

The Chai:
It is INCREDIBLY BITTER tea, you can steep something midrage like yellow label for 3 times as long in 2x hotter water and it still will be 50 time smoother. Really really bad, strong not in a good way, low quality black tea. Yuck.

The Masala:
You'd think some good spices would salvage a bad tea right? Not in this case.... Is so lightly seasoned it is unreal. Even multiple won't get you much of a spiced taste. No I'm not comparing to fresh ground spices, even 2 year old stale ground cinnamon & cardamom lightly sprinkled will give you stronger and more complex flavor.

I thought this, being an india import would be pretty good, but it is worse than any off the shelf supermarket chais,
This is more comparable to something extremely stale from a dollar store

This tea is pretty good, but like another reviewer mentioned, its spice flavor can be lacking. I keep this around for whenever my Tazo chai finishes, or if I'm making tea on the stove and can strengthen the flavor by throwing in a cardamom pod or two, maybe a cinnamon stick. Not bad that way. HOWEVER, I strongly recommend checking your local Indian store for this product, or suggesting they start stocking, before buying it from these sellers - I've found it for as little as 3 dollars for 100 bags. And its being sold for 17?? My soul is crying just from looking at that. You're better off getting the Tazo Chai bags directly from amazon, much better flavor anyway.

I have been having this tea for close to 4 years now and there's no going back to any other brands. I am quite surprised by all the negative comments here really. This is the way indians drink tea! Dark and strong black tea which is then mixed with milk/cream. Its probably not everyone's cup of tea (pun intended) so unless you are used to drinking tea this way, please skip it. If you are used to it, then this is an excellent blend of spices and the tea itself. To get that additional flavor, boil it with some freshly grated (or squeezed) ginger and that should complete the taste profile of that perfect indian "chai". Also although these are tea bags, if you put them in the boiling water and prepare the tea as if using loose leaf tea, you will experience a completely different outcome. That said, def overpriced on amazon, half the price at any of your local Indian grocery stores ...

This chai is not good at all. I usually buy tea from it's country of origin, thinking that it is best from the source. I'm usually right. This stuff was tasteless and I'm glad I only spent a few bucks on it. It went in the trash.

I wish there was a rating below 1, like -100. I purchased locally and this is the worst tasting tea I have ever had. Actually, mine was long on color and short on taste. A waste of money. The tea had no aromma so I have no idea how old this stuff is. I guesss I will try the Special International Blend that I purchased along with this and see if it is any better. Not sure of the caffine content but I had my first cup around 7 PM and could not get to sleep until 6 the following morning. That was the only thing I consumed that I hadn't consumed before. This stuff was a total waste of money.

I use two tea bags. Quite expensive for such weak flavor. There's little to no spice. Very fragrant which is misleading. I would never order this again.

At $10, it's really good deal, You will feel masala. This is an traditional Indian tea so try not to compare with other Asian tea or some modern teas.
