EZ Tilt and Optimus Dual Tip Technology

The Wagner Power Painter Pro with EZ Tilt and Optimus Dual Tip Technology is a hand held sprayer designed for the home owner to speed up painting projects up to 5 times as fast as a brush. It uses high speed piston pump technology in conjunction with the tungsten carbide Optimus Dual Tip to provide a professional fan shaped pattern preferred for achieving the best, most even finish. EZ Tilt allows you to spray at any angle.

Only Wagner Can Paint At Any Angle

Our EZ Tilt flex tube draws no matter which direction the paint sprayer is pointed — down at decks or straight up at gutters and eaves — for a finish as good as a professional painter with an expensive paint gun. Any way you look at exterior painting, you can't beat the coverage, speed and finish you get by spraying with Wagner, the innovator in power painting. *Based on tests of similar sprayers, operated at a 90 degree angle, pointed directly upward or downward, with the paint reservoir less than half full.

OptimusTM Dual Tip - Professional Results And A Beautiful Finish

Optimus Dual Tip is superior to single-orifice tips. The dual tip creates a low-pressure vacuum between two spray jets, drawing more paint particles into the spray pattern. As a result you end up with more uniform coverage in a single pass. And the Optimus tip rotates so you can spray a horizontal or a vertical pattern. It is also made from tungsten carbide for longer life.

Exclusive EZ TiltTM Flexible Suction Tube

Now spray a ceiling or a floor the right way – aim right at it. Our EZ Tilt flexible suction tube always draws paint because it always goes to where paint is in the cup – no matter which way you point the sprayer. Other sprayers don't have it, so they draw air as the cup level goes down and spit and /or stop spraying.

SAFETY

I forgot to mention, you probably want to warm up for a few minutes before operating this tool with the cup full of paint. It gets kind of heavy on your back, specially if you are not standing in uniformly leveled floor. Last year I was painting a white wall that is less than 50cm tall, that also has an inclination of about 20 degrees, and when I inclined to paint the lower side of the wall and pulled the trigger, I got a horrible cramp on my back, and I couldn't stand for almost an hour (I was painting for the whole week different parts of my house, so probably my back just got a break). I was 22 at the time, so this recommendation applies to all ages.

Make sure to ALWAYS stand or crouch with your back straight, to avoid any cramps, specially if hernias run through your family.

REVIEW

You will save a lot of time by using this instead of any kind of manual painter. I made 2 passes of 50/50 latex/water(extremely thinned) paint to a 3x2 meter room in less than 10 minutes, and took less than 30 minutes to clean everything up, normally it should take 30 minutes per pass(manually)...so 1 hour plus all the dripping and messing up to clean for after.
The day before that I painted metal fences, with non thinned oil based paint, and a 20*1 meter wall with white latex paint(non thinned). So if you have any doubts about buying this..here are the pros and cons..

At my wife's insistence, I bought the Wagner Power Painter Max EZ Tilt sprayer to paint 275' of 6' wooden fence and am glad that I did. I was concerned about the Max spraying the very thick (and very expensive @$70/gal)Sherwin Williams Endurance paint 'n primer so I thinned it slightly with Flood Floetrol. It sprayed beautifully. I kept the sprayer fairly close to the boards and sprayed a heavy coat on the bare wood. My wife followed behind with a 4" brush to spread any drips or thick spots. Once we got the hang of it we were completing about a linear foot a minute, which included 6' fence boards, 6" posts, (3) 2"x6" stringers and a 2"x6" top cap. I mention this only because there was much more to paint than just the vertical boards. Instead of using the paint cup which would have required constant refilling, I used the suction hose from the kit and a one-gallon can of paint. Here was the real time saver: I ran my belt thru the metal handle on the paint can and hung the can on my side, then sprayed away until each can was almost empty. The plastic can lid in the Max kit worked perfectly and I did not spill a drop despite bending over to spray the lower sections. The hose fits tight in the included can lid and will not fall out. This was a far better solution than the optional Wagner back-pack for the sprayer. Plus, by using the hose, you can spray at any angle, even overhead, vertical or horizontal.

I read the reviews before ordering the Max from Amazon and ordered a spare piston just to be safe, but did not need it. The negative reviews I attribute to users not reading and carefully following all the included directions and carefully cleaning the sprayer (more on that later). My suggestion - be sure to read all the instructions.

This thing is awsome. I loved using it. Definitely read the instruction before operating it, I did not take into account the small amount of sputter that came out while it was priming. Also, if you plan on doing any interior painting, I'd say cover at least 24 inches out from wherever you don't want paint to go. I encountered a little more over spary than I planned. It works great on the application side, and clean up took me less time than if I were to clean out one brush.

This is my first paint sprayer, which I bought for painting a farmer's porch (especially the railings and spindles). It puts out a pretty consistent spray with little sputtering. I was using a fairly heavy indoor/outdoor primer/sealer (Kilz) and it sprayed ok without thinning, but the low paint indicator never came on and resulted in unwanted sputtering when the paint ran out from the cup.

The EZ Tilt dip tube works well, I was able to paint in several orientations while maintaining even spraying.

Clean-up is a bit involved, the sprayer has to be taken apart quite a bit and the parts brushed clean with the included toothbrush and wirebrush... I think there are 16 steps in total to cleaning. I guess this will be true of any paint sprayer, so I can't comment on whether clean-up is any better or worse with this unit. It was pretty straight-forward, I had little difficultly in taking it apart or putting it back together. I think it could be easier, though.

So far I'm pleased with the purchase... despite the involved cleaning process, it's still a time saver and yields a better finish than with brushes or rollers.
