3.0 out of 5 stars Meeting Venus, February 7, 2012
By
This review is from: Wagner: Tannhäuser (Highlights) (Audio CD)
This is the soundtrack from the film "Meeting Venus" with the Schumann art song removed. You can get the soundtrack for much less than this recording, thus the 3 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tannhauser-Abridged, August 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Wagner: Tannhäuser (Highlights) (Audio CD)
This is a great abridged work, and certainly a great value.

The most performed pieces, the "Pilgrim's Chorus", "Ode to the Evening Star", are well-done, and the "Entrance of the Guests" is excellent.

If I could add one thing it would be the "Ode to Venus" which is done in act one at the opening, and again at the singing contest.

Quite simply put, this is a desert island cd.
