It holds firm no matter the size!

They're definitely easier to use than mangling wires into a nut.

Finally a way to connect stranded and solid wire.

When I find a well made product that does it's job well, I'm happy to promote it. Not for the sake of the manufacturer, but for all of you who, like me, have wished there was a better way to get something done.

These electrical connectors are great. 28 - 12 AWG (stranded and solid) 600 V (1000 V signs and fixtures) 20 A maximum. They couldn't be much more versatile, reliable and easy to use.

I first ran across them setting up a pyrotechnics display. They make splicing wires FAST and are VERY SECURE. Plus, they're re-usable. I've even used them for splicing microphone wires to carry audio signal, in situations where I'm not extremely concerned about RF shielding. No problems. The spring-loaded connector holds enough pressure that the connecting is as good as a crimp or solder joint.

The other place they excel is in tight quarters. Ever tried holding a light fixture close enough to the ceiling (while standing on a ladder) that the wires from the box reach the fixture, and then try to twist conductors together with wire nuts at the same time?? I never seem to have enough hands to accomplish this. You'll love this improvement.. Attach the connectors to the wires coming out of the ceiling box, THEN lift the light close enough that you can insert the wires from the fixtures and snap the levers closed (one at a time), and you're DONE. You'll be happy you paid a few pennies more for these.

The two-conductor version works best for the situation described above, if space in the electrical box is limited and you're not going to chain anything else on the circuit at that point. Get the three- or five-conductor version if you have the room and need the extra wire-space capacity to add additional devices onto the circuit.

I didn't expect to have to rewire a switch I installed using these connectors, but turns out, the cooper ubs wall switch burnt out and threw the breaker, much to my surprise. I initially thought that perhaps one of these connectors failed and a wire came loose in the box. Not the case.

What sold me on these connectors was the convenience and ease in which I was able to pull out the old switch and install a replacement. All without disturbing the existing pass through wires that this switch was connected into.

The description here doesn't say, but if you look at the wago website, you can find that these are not appropriate for a lot of house wiring.
They are NOT rated for 12AWG sold copper.
They are rated for 28AWG to 14AWG solid, and 28 to 12 *stranded*.

I was introduced to these little gems while working at an industrial plant with mostly European equipment. I've grown to swear by these things, as well as the other electricians I work with. Thankfully Amazon offers these and I can start using them outside of work. They grip so tightly that I'd wager most gauges of stranded wire would break before pulling out. As a side note, Wago is a mostly European brand name that is not very well known in the United States, but they should not be mistaken for a second rate/bargain brand company. They are a top notch, high quality manufacturer.

These are easy to use, work with various gauges and stranded or solid wire. They cost more than wire nuts but I feel safer using them.

I greatly prefer these over traditional wire nuts. You don't have no twist the wires together; you don't have to have many different sizes (whereas you do with wire nuts). They have a very easy to use lever mechanism, and it is very easy to replace a single wire without taking apart the entire assembly (as opposed to wire nuts). Overall, I love these and would recommend them to anyone.

I was surprised by how tightly these connectors hang on to the wire. I don't have to wonder if one of the wires is going to wiggle loose after I've checked them. The levers snap back into place hard enough to give you a small but painful pinch, so beware.

I was an electrician for twenty years and now am an electrical inspector (still doing electrical work for family).
These are better than wire-nuts or any other connector out there.
I keep a supply of all sizes handy at all times.
