Editorial Reviews

Special edition 8 DVD Set. One of the longest running and most popular of all the television westerns, Wagon Train topped the ratings for eight seasons in the late 1950s and 1960s. These 32 color episodes of the 7th season are fully restored from their original NBC Universal masters by TMG, which is proud to present them on DVD.

I bought this DVD set because I am a Robert Fuller fan. Unfortunately he broke his leg during the filming of the Santiago Quesada story so there were quite a few episodes that were 'Coop' light. However, if you are a fan of his it is still well worthwhile purchasing this set of DVDs. The episodes he features in are very good, with lots of action, some light moments, dramatic moments and the quality is good too considering how old the episodes are, in fact I wouldn't complain about the quality at all. The episodes that Coop is in after Fuller's accident give us some nice close ups of the actor due to the necessity of having to film him either sitting down or from the waist up.
If you are purely a Western fan with no particular leaning towards a favourite actor then I think you will get a lot of enjoyment out of this series. Some episodes are a little quirky but very entertaining. You get a good mix of action, drama and again some light moments. I would definitely recommend this DVD set. I am hoping season 8 will eventually be released, too.

I hadn't seen these episodes for almost 20 years now, and was excited about seeing them again. I wasn't disappointed.

The quality is of the transfers is good, considering the time in which the show was done. I believe this season was in 1963 and '64. The episodes still hold up well as far as westerns go. My favorites are Sam Spicer Story, Molly Kinkaed Story and The Whipping. However, I still have a number of discs which I havent viewed yet. There is also a bonus disc with interviews of Robert Fuller and Scott Miller, which were interesting.

I am always very hesitant to order dvds of older television shows, because of the transfers. They are usually hit and miss. I am quite pleased with Wagon Train though. They did a very good job with the quality of these dvds and I will be ordering more seasons as well.

As usual bought it for Robert Fuller. Is in color and 90 minute version. Excellent guest stars and stories. Even though he had several good stories in this season Robert broke his leg while filming the Santiago Queseda episode so was only shot briefly from waist up in a lot of the episodes and seen briefly. But most stories are excellent with their guest stars. Not in the tin, but if you know how to work the set up it is in, it is no problem at all, I rather like it. The color definitely brings a totally different viewing pleasure to seeing their world.

My wife and I have been viewing Wagon Train videos starting with Season 1 and continuing right through Season 7. We find the shows to be very entertaining, unlike so many of the new network shows on TV these days.

This is a great deal on Season 7 of the Wagon Train series episodes. The recording was well done, and they play perfectly in our DVD players. If you like Wagon Train like we do, this is a great purchase and a way to have them permanently in your collection.

Basically a package of 32 short movies featuring the cast of the classic TV show WAGON TRAIN which makes the cost a real bargain. Scripts range from excellent to fair; it would have been virtually impossible to crank out great stuff every single week on the tight shooting schedules they were under in the mid 60s. . A first-time viewer won't be lost by a myriad of back stories that often lard modern TV shows (like PERSON OF INTEREST) and scare-off new potential fans. Straight forward and simple to understand plots make these episodes accessible to all. All things considered, this is "good buy" for a fan of the show or anyone who loves the Western genre

Truly a wonderful season. Wagon Train was one of the best westerns ever and I am so glad it came on DVD. This season is beautiful because it is in color and there are lots of extras that come in one of the editions that I own. I purchased this one for a friend but either way, it is worth the purchase. Enjoy!

I am very pleased with the quality of the DVDs. I am having a great time remembering the 60s an the type of television that I watched during my teen years. I hope to purchase the eighth season if Santa does not bring it.
