My dog is a Poodle corgi mix with a thick undercoat. I was tired of cutting her fur every month with scares and having her have a bad hair day for weeks until her hair grew back. I really don't want to spend $40-$60 on her getting professionally groomed every time she needed togo short. I came a cross these clippers on amazon.com and noticed it was at a good price. Doesn't come with DVD but for the great price you get clippers, the blade attachments, a comb, oil with brush, and a case to store everything. All I did is youtubed a grooming clip and tahdah I'm a pro. She looks so cute and I feel so proud of myself:D

I have a 70lb shepard mix that cost me $75 to get shaved at the groomers. Ive only used these once so far and they worked great. They didnt pull on his hair or make to much noise.

This was definitely worth every penny, it's a no brainer to use. I do suggest watching a tutorial on grooming dogs on YouTube before actually grooming your dog. But this does the trick time and time again. Don't bother getting the more expensive one, just buy this one and call it a night.

Have a Norwegian Forest Cat with very thick undercoat and long guard hair. I didn't think these would work given some of the reviews and our experience with other 'non-professional' clippers. So when I took it out of the box, I used it on the cat without a guard thinking it would not cut through the dense forest of undercoat just like every other clipper. Turns out these clippers work great and the cat now has a bald strip down his back. Also, nice and quiet so it didn't scare him. Worked great. Very happy. So far, so good. Go ahead and buy it. You'll like it.

These clippers worked very well but I had to purchase the different guards...it didn't come with any! The picture has the clippers AND the guards but it did not come with any guards!! I was disappointed.

I have a schi-tzu she weighs 19 pounds and these clippers are no match for her long fine hair. Its taken me 2 days and about 10 breaks to cut her hair. These clippers are absolutely a shame and pathetic. Im going to have to buy a good $70 to $ 80 pair.
What a waste of energy and technology !

I'm not knocking Wahl products, I've used their clippers on my dogs for years. I dropped and broke the last pair; my own stupid fault. I thought I'd save a buck and get these for a replacement, and they are TERRIBLE. You'd be better off using first-grade safety scissors. I spent about 2 hours trying to trim a schnauzer and finally just gave up. Spend 20 or 30 extra bucks and get the better Wahl clippers, you'll be glad you did.

I bought this several years ago for my ridiculously furry 17-lb orange tabby. I watched a youtube video on the lion's cut, and by the second time he was purring. The clippers easily handled both large & small hidden matted areas. I just inserted a fine-tooth comb between his skin and the mat before using the clippers in those spots.

Both of us were very happy with the result! He had fewer hairballs, could groom himself more easily, and lay out in the Arizona sun more comfortably. I didn't have to pay $85 per session to a professional, and he looked hilarious.

From what I can tell, the clippers perform just like the ones Wahl makes for people, and the guards are interchangeable. My cat's been gone awhile, and now I use the clippers on my boyfriend.

I was able to get through a grooming with my Shih Tzu in about 30 minutes, but that is too long and it is pretty tedious. I got an Andis model instead and the work goes a lot quicker now.

I purchased this cutter to replace an old, failing Oster cutter for my mini-schnauzer. The adjustable blades offered me a perfect length for most of the schnauzer's coat, even without the additional blade guards attached to the front. It was the blade guards on the Oster cutter that gave us the most problem, always snagging in his hair.

This new Wahl "basic" cutter didn't snag once, and the whole grooming process was quick and efficient. Both the dog and I were totally happy with the results.

I read several reviews of various cutters before making this purchase through Amazon, and came to the realization that you really didn't need to spend many times more than I did on features that, maybe nice, aren't required to groom your pet properly. I don't have an expensive cutter to compare with, all I know is, this cutter works GREAT!
