This trimmer is a nice product. For the most part it is superior to every electric shaver/trimmer I have ever owned. I received this one for Christmas and so far I'm pleased with it. It comes with nice durable trimming guides. (some other companies products provide flimsy crappy ones that break the second time you change them.) So far I use the trimmer maybe twice a week and I have only charged it once since December 26th so that should tell you something about the battery life. The trimmer itself fits nicely in your hand and is even quieter than my old one. (not that it matters) If you grow a beard or mustache or any form of facial hair do yourself a favor and purchase one of the Wahl products! This keeps your goatee or beard from getting too long and nasty. There is even some free lubricating oil included which they recommend you apply once a month. The only drawback I found about this product was that the trimmer is somewhat difficult to remove from the cheap plastic stand, and the stand is the one and only negative about this product. It takes up too much room on the sink for my taste, but you could consider just leaving the trimmer laying by itself that might work better. Overall I really liked this product.

Initially, I bought the trimmer on a whim, I had been using my cordless clippers to trim my beard,as well as my hair. But after it arrived(in a timely manner),I was blown away by its power and ease of use. It is also smaller than my cordless clippers and I can trim and groom with ablomb! I've had it for about 2 months now and after its initial charge, Its still going strong. I love this trimmer and highly recommend it!

I have had either a beard or goatee for the last 28 years, and for most of this time I owned a Wahl trimmer. My first Wahl lasted 10 years, my second Wahl lasted for 8 years. I took a 3 year break using a Norelco (which was a Christmas gift), however, I was never satisfied with the cut at longer settings. I ultimately went back to various Wahl trimmers, yet they all gave out (battery, motor, etc) in less than 2 years.Deciding to give Wahl one last chance. I purchased the "All-in-One Trimmer Kit," given that it had a 5-year warranty. The battery quit recharging after the 3rd month, and Wahl's position was since I failed to keep my receipt, there was no warranty coverage. Please note that my failure to keep the receipt was definitely my fault. However, I can say, through personal experience, that Wahl's quality and performance has SIGNIFICANTLY declined over the years (based on my last four purchases), and this was the last Wahl trimmer that I will ever own. If you cannot purchase any other trimmer but a Wahl, my advice is that you hold fast to your receipt...because I fear you will need it sooner rather than later. If any other option is available to you, I would strongly urge you to consider it, rather than purchasing a Wahl.

This does exactly what I need for my first goatee. The blades cut without any pulling. The attachments are really easy to put on or take off. Sure, the stand is cheap, but I don't need an expensive one, and it's small enough to fit on my counter. My only disappointment so far has been the battery life, which lasted only a week and a half for me, and then I had to recharge it already. It might be b/c I'm a beginner with the goatee, so I took my time trimming it, but I was hoping it would last longer on one charge.

Purchased this recently and wish I hadn't. My old Philips Norelco rechargeable was not holding a charge well, and this item popped up as a Gold Box deal. The Wahl appears to provide a wide range of trim-length options, with a multi-set comb attachment and several single-length comb attachments. Unfortunately for me the multi-set attachment is useless because the shortest setting is longer than I prefer. I like the facial hair short- not stubble, mind you, but short. So it was on to the individual combs- length acceptable, but hair pulling- not. The combs seem somewhat crudely formed, and very pointed, instead of having the points rounded. So pokes were frequent. Also, I'm not sure if it was the clipper or the join between comb and clipper, but I get frequent "plucks" instead of cuts- ouch! Lastly, the lack of the vacuum feature is a downside for me, as well. I was spoiled by the Philips Norelco trimmer, and it's lack of messy aftermath.

I ordered this as a replacement of a separate Wahl trimmer that had served me well for 3 years.Unfortunately, the trimmer I received will not hold a full charge. There is no way to know if the trimmer is charged or not (no indicator light). It charges just enough to trim my beard in the mornings (approx 1-2 minutes worth). I have tried letting the trimmer sit for extended time to charge (24 hours, 48 hours, at 1 point I let it sit for over 4 days). I would definately look at other models Wahl is selling before deciding on this one.

This product was suiting my needs for the most part. I then had to pack lightly, so I gave it to younger brother. Having found myself without a shaver, I bought the Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer. Now that I have a basis for comparison, it's fair to say that the Wahl was significantly inferior.Qualms: 1) It does not work until it is charged. In other words, even when it is plugged in, it won't shave without a moderately-charged battery. This is not the case for the Phillips Norelco. 2) The base/stand that it comes with is practically useless, especially when traveling. I found myself losing and misplacing pieces all the time. The attachments don't snap in efficiently, and it's an eyesore. The Phillips Norelco is one piece and comes with a travel pouch. 3) It takes a long time to charge, and there's no indication of the progress of the charge. The Phillips Norelco has an indicator light and will always work wherever there is an outlet. Once it is charged and working, it trims fine. But given the fact that $20 extra can buy you a better product with a vacuum, no attachments, and a better charging system, I don't see how one can justify buying this Wahl-- unless one is on an extremely tight budget.

Not enough trimming lengths, AND IT DIED,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wahl 9855-100 Rechargeable Goatee Trimmer (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this product in October. It is now March. That means, it lasted almost 6 months before it stopped working. When I first got it, I didn't even use it since the trimming lengths were not to my taste. The shortest attachment was, I thought, too long. So, I put it aside. 2 months afterwards, I started growing a beard, and one of the longer trimmer lengths was very good for cleaning up the beard and keeping it neat. It worked very well in this situation, so I would recommend it to someone looking for a beard trimmer, besides the fact THAT IT DIED. So, I really only got 4 solid months out of it, and then one day, I plugged it in, took a shower, and then turned it on. Except, this time, it did not turn it on. This was a week ago. My beard's a mess (which is kinda funny, but besides the point). I see the product has a 5 year warranty, so if I can figure out how to get a refund or a new product, I might purchase a different product from this company at a later date, but as of right now, I am extremely disgruntled.CLOSING NOTE! MOST IMPORTANT PART! THE TRIMMER LENGTHS ARE NOT SHORT ENOUGH, AND THE TRIMMER ITSELF DIED WITHIN 6 MONTHS (WITH ONLY 4 MONTHS OF ACTUAL USE)

Worked Great...For 6 Weeks,

This Wahl "rechargeable" beard trimmer worked very well...for six weeks. Then without warning it died completely. Stopped working entirely and all attempts to "recharge" it did nothing. I'm going to get the same trimmer, but in a battery operated version. At least that should slow down before it dies and simply changing batteries should work.
