I purchased this to remove the knots (matted fur) from the back of one of our two cats. It worked very well. I held her while my wife did the trimming and my wife being a beautician, has used many trimmers and she was impressed with this product. It is a little noisy but our cat didn't seem to mind (I had a good hold on her). (I also recomend the Zoom Groom pet brush because it works and they love it!)

Unlike the other reviewer of this product, this is the only trimmer my dog tolerates. It is very quiet and vibrates less than most other more expensive trimmers, plus its size makes it very easy to operate. I recommend it just for small areas like ears, face, paws. If you plan to groom your dog and give a complete hair trim get a bigger one!

Not terrible, but needs some improvement.,

This is the third pocket trimmer that I have purchased over the past six years or so. It is unique in it's portability and it does the job for the most part.
When I first purchased several years ago, it was marketed for humans, and I used it myself. It lasted at least four years, which was durable by most standards. I used it two to three times per week. The last one I bought a couple of years ago had a subtle marketing change - it seemed that the target market had become pets and horses, but I could not find anything else this size and had really liked that first one, so I went ahead and picked up that second one. It seemed louder, but also had more power. The price of the power however was that it went through batteries a lot faster (but I should note that it only runs on one AA battery). This second one only lasted two years approximately, but I accidentally got it wet so I may have gotten a couple more years out of it. I've had this last one (which seems to be entirely marketed for HORSES now) for about a month now and there seems to be one persistent problem - it speeds up and slows down at random interval - many times while I am in the process of trimming my beard. This can be a little nerve-racking of course - I don't want this thing to get caught in mid-trim. New batteries don't seem to help it at all. Still, I can't find anything in this size and have searched extensively. So I will try to work with it for now. I could even see myself getting yet another one, even if I am not the target demographic for the trimmer.
