An impressive hair clipper in every sense.

I purchased this cutter (for home use) after some discussion with a person who had some experience with 'Wahl' hair cutting products; I was not disappointed with my decision.

The unit comes with a clip guard, blade oil, a comb and six different cutting guides (ranging from 1/8 to 1 inch). This is a corded unit and requires a wall outlet that will accept one normal width and one wide prong plug.

The pros:

1.)This clipper has a heavy, secure feeling in your hand; it really feels solid and well made.

2.)The cutting guides give a nice solid 'click' when applied to the blades, giving the impression that they are securely on.

3.)Noise was not an issue for me (as opposed to the person who reviewed this product before me). I felt the unit produced a substantial, but not terribly annoying, hum.

4.But most importantly, this unit gave a smooth, even cut; plus, there was no pulling of hair despite my attempts to push the blades through my hair fairly fast (to see how well it would perform when used quickly). The blades cut my hair without the slightest hesitation, nor was there any sense of laboring from the motor itself.

Conclusion:
An excellent hair cutting product for either professional or home use. It is reasonably priced and to date, has matched, if not exceeded my expectations. 5 Stars.

I had purchased these same clippers several years ago at a much higher price, unfortunately I had dropped them one to many times and was forced to purchase another one. I couldn't believe that I was able to find the same one, the Wahl Designer Professional Clippers for a fraction of the cost. These clippers worked great and probably would still be going strong if it wasn't for my carelessness.
So would I buy the same ones again? I did.

To paraphrase the Secret deodorant slogan, "Strong enough for the professional barber, made for the novice." Seriously, this clipper is probably the best you can find in terms of value, performance, and longevity if you cut your own hair at home. It irks me when I hear the same old "i used to buy the cheap 25 dollar pair of walmart clippers; this is way better." Of course it is. These are PROFESSIONAL clippers, but I find them best suited for consumers who cut their own hair. the reason being is that, for the professional barber, there are clippers better suited for their specific needs. Those clippers also happen to be a lot more expensive and, for the most part, a bit overkill for a consumer who uses a clipper all but a few times a month at most. The Wahl Designer is inexpensive (34.99-49.99), handles great, lasts much longer than consumer-grade clippers, and comes with clipper combs (most pro clippers don't). I definitely recommend this product. Oh, and if you purchase this and you hear a clattering sound when you turn it on, don't return it. It's not defective. you have to turn the screw on the side until the noise stops.

These are an excellent pair of clippers. I got these as a replacement for my old clippers that had begun to pull hair instead of actually cutting it. These new clippers are very sturdy and fell like they will last awhile.

I had read other reviews that complained about the noise of the clippers and had some worry in that regard, but that proved to be unfounded. The clippers are no louder than any other pair of clippers I experienced from when I've had my hair cut in barber shops. The directions for first using the clippers include a step about adjusting a screw (turning it one way till the clippers make a loud noise, and then turning it 1/8 turn in the other direction). When making the adjustment, the clippers did indeed make that loud noise, and so I'm wondering if the other reviewers maybe haven't made this screw adjustment yet.

This pair of clippers was recommended to me by a friend who has used his clippers for over 2 years now and he has nothing but positive comments about it, as well.

I've had these clippers for about 7 years and they've never failed me. I use them for my head hair and guardless on my face as they work much better than any beard trimmer. I use them a couple times a week and they're always sharp and have never locked up. Great product.

I bought this to clip my three-year old's hair after seeing it in the kid's salon. It is super quiet, and I saved $25 by clipping his hair myself.

Well im a hairdresser and have used these for yrs, mine got old so i ~bought the same brand and type again since i had such good sucess with the previous Wahl Clippers.
They work great but they are so, so, Loud that it really hurts my clients ears as well as mine.

I wasn't sure about getting this as I have owned a no name model of similar construction in the past that didn't cut well. I can say the Wahl 8355 Designer works great!

I am still using my rechargeable model for the beard and trimming, but for my hair, running the unit for extended periods, the Wahl is a better choice. It is strong and cuts clean. The attachment combs stay on firmly and provide good guidance. I had hoped it would come with a slanted comb for the ears, but it didn't. As others have said, it runs cool and quiet as long as you read the manual and do the described power adjustment and maintenance.

Local retailer wanted $53 for this. Amazon's price beat it by far. Cuts through my hair and my son's thick wavy hair with ease. No pulling or tugging and lots more power than the Wahl MC home model that it replaced. AND all of the attachments from my old home model fit on this Pro level model. I've only had it a couple of weeks so can't speak about durability but my last Wahl lasted 12 years. I'm very happy so far.

I purchased this particular clipper over 8 years ago under the guidance of my hairdresser ( who taught me how to cut my husband & two boys hair ) & it has been an incredible money saving investment! It still is running flawlessly, I am preparing to buy another just to have on hand, if and when it dies. I believe the key to a long life is taking care of it, reading the instructions and cleaning it regularly. I oil it and use the turn key adjustment slot on the side (which is what makes it so noisy) to clean out the hair at least every 2-3 cuts.
