4.0 out of 5 stars Duke Pearson Sextet, November 11, 2007
I agree with the others this is a good date that needs to be re- issued. Johnny Cole's session Little Johnny C (with Joe Henderson and Leo Wright) could well be under Duke's name too. He was at the piano and wrote all the tunes.

Stellar creativity. I don't care how much it costs, get it. Read the review of it on allmusic.com, it's absolutely accurate.

5.0 out of 5 stars so glad it's back, December 24, 2008
I am so glad that this is available once again on re-issue. The tunes are great and follow in the line of what Duke Pearson consistently wrote while at Blue Note. Joe Henderson's solos are fabulous on all tracks, and "ESP" is just one of my favorite jazz tracks of all time, with a bouncy rhythm and great solos from everyone plus dynamic bass and drums. I know I will play this one to death and never tire of hearing it.

If you dug Sweet Honey Bee you'll dig this one too, with Donald Byrd in for Freddie Hubbard. It might come out on RVG next year as Rudy heads down the homestretch. Read more

Pay whatever you have to for this gem. It's hard bop at its most creative. Blue note should re-release and heavily promote this one.
