Discover Hear Rate Training Simplified

No Zones. No Math. Just two simple choices to help you reach your goals faster. Wahoo Fitness's in-house physiologists have taken the traditional "five-zone approach" to heart rate training and reduced it to two key heart rate numbers. The Burn, which is the heart rate at which your body utilizes fat as the primary fuel source; and The Burst, the recommended heart rate that should be maintained for short durations to improve speed and performance. Wahoo has created Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Burn and Burst training plans customized to your individual skill level and fitness goals.

Connects with Popular Apps

The Blue HR strap connects wirelessly to your Bluetooth 4.0-enabled iOS device and delivers accurate real-time heart rate data through the free Wahoo Fitness App... or any of over 50 other popular fitness Apps, including Endomondo, Strava, RunKeeper, MapMyRun, Cyclemeter, and MapMyFitness.

With the Wahoo Blue HR and your favorite fitness App, you now have your heart rate data, your playlists, your phone, GPS maps and more--all in one device.

iPhone Compatibility

Blue HR works with iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (5th generation), and the new iPad (3rd and 4th generations). The Blue HR sends and receives signals up to 10 feet, and records data even when Bluetooth receiver communication is interrupted, so you don't miss any important metrics. Please note that this device will not work with the iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4.

Upload to Training Sites
Wahoo Fitness App Endomondo MapMyRun
RunKeeper Runmeter
Compatible with Strava, MapMyRide, Endomondo, Runkeeper and Wahoo Fitness

Workout data is easily and wirelessly uploaded to popular training websites such as TrainingPeaks, MapMyRUN, Nike+, Garmin Connect or Strava so you can track your fitness over time and share with friends. You can also email your workout data to yourself or your coach.

Ultra Low Energy

The Wahoo Blue HR runs on a replaceable coin cell battery and lasts up to 1 year. Also, it "sleeps" during inactivity to conserve power.

Wireless Compatibility

The Wahoo Blue HR is enabled with Bluetooth 4.0 technology, sending and receiving signals up to 10 feet (unobstructed).

Waterproof up to 5 Feet

The Wahoo Blue HR is waterproof up to 5 feet to endure water and sweat, making it an ideal accessory for beach runs, jogs in the rain, and more. It will not, however, transmit data underwater or while swimming.

How It Works

Blue HR setup is super easy. Wrap the strap around your back, and snap the sensor into place. Make sure that the sensor is located on your sternum or just below your breasts, and that the Wahoo Fitness logo is facing up. Download and open the Wahoo Fitness App or one of dozens of compatible Apps. Pair the Blue HR within the App's settings menu. Now you are ready to work out.

About Wahoo Fitness

Wahoo Fitness creates sensors and devices to connect your iPhone to a variety of fitness activities, including running, biking and going to the gym. Wahoo products transform the technology you already own--your iPhone--into a powerful, all-in-one training partner through Bluetooth 4.0 or ANT+ connectivity. Wahoo products work with dozens of fitness Apps to ensure our customers can always find an App best suited to their needs. Become a Wahooligan today.

Important steps to follow while using this product:
1.Use a compatible smartphone
2.Moisten the Blue HR sensor pads properly
3.Please use a "Wahoo Approved" App

To Turn ON Bluetooth: Go to Device Settings and Toggle Bluetooth to ON position
To connect to an App:Pair the sensor directly with the App that you are using. In the Wahoo App, hit SAVE after the sensor is paired. Make sure that you pair the Blue HR in all workout modes (Running, Cycling) of the App. Other apps may connect differently to the Blue HR than the Wahoo Fitness App.
To connect to another App:Turn on the Bluetooth and Put on the Bloue HR. Go into the App's settings and look for "connect to sensor" or similar language. Each App is different but there are some commonalities:

  • Connect and pair in the App, not in Bluetooth Settings
  • You must connect the Blue HR for each App you use. With Bluetooth 4.0, you can't connect once and have every App recognize, you must connect each separately (but once you pair in the App, you are good for that App)
  • Make sure both ends of the strap are snapped onto the heart rate sensor

5.0 out of 5 stars Wahoo Blue review October 29, 2012
    By frmark

My 1st review after careful deliberation
After careful consideration of the reviews, I decided to try this device on my I phone 4s. I had been to both the web-site and multiple sites reviewing this product. I decided to order through amazon because I can just return the product if it doesn't work. I am training with coach for 2 Iron man races in 2013. Heart rate stuff important. reviews made me very cautious. I did double check all sources to make sure I have an I phone 4S as described on wahoo blue site. This is important.
My goal was to be able to utilize my Iphone 4S to capture heart rate information, training zones, cadence, speed, etc. and to upload to my training peaks account online. I already use multiple APPS to get most information. My dilemma, Buy new Garmin watch or use I-phone 4S (either Ant+ or Bluetoothe). Decided to use bluetoothe and return if it does not work. I decided I would try just the heart rate monitor and see how it goes, then move onto the Speed/cadence later if all goes well. If it doesnt work, I could just return and not waist alot of time. Thanks Amazon.
Shipping was very fast thru amazon prime..... in 2 days.
The product came in a box with few instructions (Slight negative), so I did go to the website to make sure that I followed the directions on the wahoo blue site [...] then followed link to "BLUE HR getting started guide" near the bottom of the page.
I went to the apple I-store and downloaded the wahoo fitness app prior to trying anything. Wet the transducer, put on the strap, and opened the Wahoo fitness app and followed the directions. this is the sequence... Run settings, heart rate, add a new device. and it paired. back to start page.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, but I Prefer the Polar H7 October 25, 2012
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Summary: This is a nice bluetooth heart rate monitor that uses the low energy bluetooth standard to communicate with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or 3rd generation iPad. It's a great choice, particularly if you like Wahoo's free fitness app. However, after trying this unit and the similar Polar H7 Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Sensor, I personally prefer the Polar. I'll break down some of the similarities and differences so that you can make your own choice.

    1. Fit: The Wahoo unit is an elastic belt with a snap on each side, plus a small transmitter. You dampen the contact points on the belt, wrap it around your chest, then snap each side into one side of the transmitter, which then holds the belt closed. (It's hard to describe, but the belt doesn't literally connect - it as a gap which is bridged by the transmitter.) The belt has two slides that let you size it to fit, and is comfortable. I like that you can unhook the transmitter to turn the belt off, which saves power -- in older HRMs, the transmitter was built in and did not turn off until the belt lost contact.

The Polar unit is similar, except that the belt has a hook that holds it closed, then you snap the unit onto the belt after that. (Again, it's hard to describe, but with the Polar, the belt itself goes all the way around your chest and connects with a bra-strap style hook on the side. The transmitter then clips on top of the belt.)

Result: Tie - both units are comfortable and work well.

    2. Compatibility: Both units use low energy bluetooth, which saves power, but is only built into the newest generation of devices.

4.0 out of 5 stars All of the good and bad reviews are correct! September 7, 2012
    Verified Purchase
Right off the bat, I'll say YES it was an "out of the box failure." But I'm rating it good anyway.

First things first - it came out of the box with a dead battery. Oops. Yeah, that's a bummer, maybe they got a bad batch of batteries from Sony or maybe these have been sitting on a shelf too long. Fortunately I have a drawer full of CR2032 cells for various other devices, so replacing the battery was a simple matter.

Upon inserting a new battery, it IMMEDIATELY paired with the open Wahoo Utility app on my iPhone 4S.

Now for the other weird stuff. I hope this can save others some confusion. And I blame this not on Wahoo or the device, but on Apple's implementation of Bluetooth 4.0 or possibly on the BT4 standard itself.

BT4 devices need to be paired not with the DEVICE, but with the APPLICATION. So logically, once it was paired with the Wahoo Utility app, I switched to the Wahoo Fitness app. It wouldn't pair. Because the Wahoo Utility was still sitting in the background, paired with the heartrate monitor. I had to pull up the task switcher on my iPhone, KILL the Wahoo Utiility app, and then try pairing again with the Wahoo Fitness app, and it worked immediately.

Same thing happened when I tried pairing with Runkeeper. Because the Wahoo Fitness app was still maintaining a connection in the background, the app had to be killed before Runkeeper would pair. But ultimately, it did pair, and once paired it was accurate and responsive.

The device works fine, but the technology is not intuitive, and Wahoo does a poor job of providing documentation or support, which prevents me from giving a 5 star review.
