Editorial Reviews

The Wai Lana style is in full effect throughout this 50-minute workout designed to "banish your lethargy." And if that style--Wai Lana practicing yoga wearing a lei, grassy anklets, and a flowery garland for headband, changing her outfit for virtually every new pose--is a bit, well, different, just concentrate on the yoga. In aiming to tone the muscles, create energy, cleanse the internal organs, and slim the waistline, Goodbye Inertia will take you through an occasionally challenging but never too strenuous sequence of poses concentrating primarily on twists and strengtheners for the back and midsection. And if Wai Lana's techniques are sometimes lacking (she tends to favor many quick repetitions of a given pose, as opposed to holding the pose longer for a deeper, more sustained effect), her overall approach to yoga is sound. Particularly worthwhile is her reminder that yoga is noncompetitive; only one's own "mental and physical obstacles" must be confronted. As long as your lei is fresh, of course. --Sam Graham

5.0 out of 5 stars Using this tape we get a bit more flexible each session., May 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Wai Lana Yoga: Goodbye Inertia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My partner an I liked the Easy series so much we had to try another Wai Lana Yoga tape. As with the Easy series, this tape features a variety of Yoga asanas to learn. We were able to practice most of the positions and only had trouble with a few of the more challenging ones but with Wai Lana's instruction we get a little more flexible each session. Once again the presentation is stunning and after each 30min lesson feel like we've had a good workout but also feel soothed by her gentle approach to yoga. These are not like other yoga videos we've tried - these work! Thank you Wai Lana.

5.0 out of 5 stars Goodbye inertia yoga video, February 6, 2004
This review is from: Wai Lana Yoga: Goodbye Inertia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have done yoga for years, and most videos that I buy I try once or twice and then they sit on the shelf. Wai Lana's are the best yoga videos I've seen. I've given some as presents just to inspire friends and relatives to get into yoga! This one is especially good for people who aren't afraid to really challenge themselves, but even beginners could still follow along. The changing natural settings are so beautiful and the music so peaceful that sometimes I just sit and watch it to pacify my mind. This one is really energizing, no dull spots like a lot of yoga videos I've seen. Great for people who really want to get into yoga.

3.0 out of 5 stars just o.k., May 4, 2005
This review is from: Wai Lana Yoga: Goodbye Inertia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Well, it sounds like other people really loved this video but I found it just ok. I think that it is very slow and not so good for people who prefer a faster paced style of yoga. I must admit, you do still feel like you have worked out, because although a lot of the positions are easy, she holds them for so long that they get strenuous. And as for the scenery, a lot of people found it beautiful, which it is, but I just found it to be a bit cheesy. Hope that helps for any inquiring yogi's.
