5.0 out of 5 stars Waiting Too
This is a great encouragement to "Generation X". Ms. St. James sets a great example by giving practical applications on maintaing purity in an if-it-feels-good-do-it society. God's standards have not changed, and this book uses His Word to combat the pressures of my generation not to wait for your future spouse, physically, emotionally and most of all spiritually. Yet...

1.0 out of 5 stars Immature: Purity just isn't what it used to be...
I was extremely disapointed with this book. While RSJ's music is often more depthy and worshipful than many of the current artists, I was saddened to see her wordly outlook on the subject of teaching and purity. By teaching I mean that she should not have considered herself at an age or level or maturity to write a book, especially about something she is right in the...

This is a great encouragement to "Generation X". Ms. St. James sets a great example by giving practical applications on maintaing purity in an if-it-feels-good-do-it society. I give it 10 STARS!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book of 2002 that deals with sex and moral behavior, August 3, 2002
This review is from: Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance (Hardcover)
When I picked up Wait for Me at a local book store, I never thought it would impact my life in such a settle way. If you are a teen who wants answers to questions regarding sex, this the book for you. If you are someone who has been abused, used by the opposit sex, hurt by current or past relationships - Wait for Me is a great guide line for you. Rebecca St. James (the Author) doesn't claim to have all the answers, but she does have a very balanced stance on sex in modern soceity and also helps you to relize that whatever your position may be, there is an answer. Great book for anyone, any age.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good book without being preachy..., August 30, 2003
By
This review is from: Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance (Hardcover)
In this book, Rebecca St. James talks about sexual purity in a world where sex before marriage is almost normal.

Yes, it is possible to wait, she says, through God's Word, her experiences, and the experiences of others.

She doesn't just say it either. She also writes practical stuff for people who want to take waiting seriously.

But she doesn't leave out people who may not technically be virgins in this book. There is always forgiveness, and people can always start anew, because --- let's face it --- people are really good at making mistakes.

All in all, an interesting book written simply that was not boring in any way.

If you love the song, and it encourages your heart, then you will enjoy this book by one of the most committede genuine recording artists out there! I love Rebecca's transparancy, her love for young people, and her Australian accent! =) I got to meet her and work with her family at several concerts and know they are the real thing. Her music is awesome, and her book is tops.
The photography is one of my favorite parts of the book, and really adds beauty to the pages. The chapters are based on various lines from the song and tie together well.
If you are wanting encouragement in standing strong while staying pure, this is a great place to start. Small and easy to read, yet will be something you'll come back to time and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful, April 26, 2003
This review is from: Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful little book. I got it yesterday and finished it within a couple of hours. I think its obvious that human beings are sexual, & growing up in a culture that says "do it", its very hard to wait until marriage.

But its possible, Rebecca reminded me the importance of waiting. What an encouraging book. It'll encourage you to wait until your married. Its perfect whether your in your teens, 20s or older. I'm glad that I got it. I'd like to recommend another book that's just as good "All It's Meant to Be by Bryan Clark."

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, August 27, 2003
This review is from: Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance (Hardcover)
I was given this book for a graduation present, and it came at just the right time. I had previously read a book called "Dating vs. Courting" in which the author taught legalism, which made falling in love seem dull. Rebecca St. James has successfully managed to talk about purity in a non-legalistic, realistic manner that challenges teens and young adults in a loving way. She makes the adventure of falling in love sound exciting. This is by no means a perfect book, but definitely one of the better pro-abstinence dating books I have read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real and intimate book, January 5, 2006
This review is from: Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance (Hardcover)
RSJ is real in this book. I have read many "purity" books and this is by far the most real of them. It has real stories about her and others that anybody can relate to. The last chapter was also a great addition as a larger population of younger people are sexually active and the hope and forgiveness that can be found in the Lord is an important lesson. There is scripture that backs up her views, and while there are small parts that I might disagree with, I would hope that anybody reading the book would know their own lines that shouldn't be crossed. And because everybody is different the advice is a good outline to start out with. After reading this book, it made me realize my own convictions and my own motivations and start to exam them for the right reasons. RSJ is personal and connects to her readers though personal experience instead of being standoffish and preachy. A book I would definatly recommend for those seaching a pure life.

If you're looking for something for a single Christian...Girl or Guy, and the objective is to either encourage them to remain sexually pure for marriage OR you are wanting to renew your own comittment to do so, this book will definitely help you. Rebecca writes in genuine detail and shares great inspiration from others who have walked many of the same roads as we do each day. The stories will inspire and help to heal past mistakes in your life. Great BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars My 11 yr old daughter and I read this together...., February 29, 2008
and she learned a lot from it. She admires Rebecca, so that encourage her to read the book from the beginning. Her Dad was reading "The difference a Father Makes" by Ed Tandy McGlasson at the sametime...so the purity ring came into play on her 12th birthday. Together these 2 books have made a big impact on our family. Don't think your 11 yr old daughter is too young for this conversation! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite book on dating and marriage, February 2, 2007
This review is from: Wait For Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance (Hardcover)
This was the first book that I ever read all the way through. Its the only book that I have ever read twice and I love it! Ive always respected RS James and her stand for sexual purity and her willingness to share it with people everywhere she goes. She also has an incredable understanding of the grace and knows how to share the gospel effectively. She has touched many people's lives. I highly recomend this book to every teenager and young adult. Even married couples can benifit from it because one chpater is dedicated to marraige.
