5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly touching
I first discovered this book while teaching Kindergarten several years ago. The story and it's wonderful illistrations struck a chord of wonder and notalgia in me that I had not experienced in a long, long time. Thereafter, it became my favorite storytime book with the children. The book was lost one year to my distress, so you can imagine the joy I felt in finding...

1.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Disappointment...
I am currently buying & storing children's books for my first Great-Niece (She is now 5-months-old.), which I will send to her at the appropriate ages. I had ordered & received several of Margaret Wise Brown's books, & had found them beautiful & charming, so based on the interesting synopsis & GLOWING customer reviews for Wait Till The Moon Is Full, I ordered it, too. I...

This is a book that should be read and enjoyed by all.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful childhood memory to pass on, January 24, 2001
By A Customer
I have been looking for a copy of this book for years. While visiting my brother recently I discovered that he had the copy that we read over and over again when we were children. It's in poor shape, a testimony to the use it received. He wouldn't part with it, so I am so pleased to find it available again. I'm sure my 2-year old grandson will enjoy this sweet and gentle story as much as I did.

My mother read this book to me when I was a little girl. I have been looking for this book for 25 years and am so glad to find it. As a 41 year old woman I am going to order it because this story brings back such safe, wonderful feelings and memories for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars What can I say?, March 2, 2000

What can anyone say about this tender book. It had an enourmous influence on me as I grew up. I loved the language and the pictures. Today I have sold paintings and some of my writing. And writing poetry comes very very easy to me. This is a book that has made a difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful story line and wonderful pictures., December 16, 1998

I read this book as a child in the hardbound copy. I am so happy it is still in print for other children to enjoy. The story shows the sweet patience of a loving mother and her cub who cannot wait to get outside to play.

Children's book "Wait Till The Moon Is Full" by Margaret Wise Brown, pictures by Garth Williams, is a classic book for both small children and their parents. Children will be enchanted with the story of a little boy raccoon growing up under a big warm chestnut tree. There he lives with his mother as she goes about her days cooking, washing, ironing, sewing and singing him raccoon songs about the night and the moon. Little raccoon lives like a little child with his toys (notice especially the enchanting toy raccoon on wheels with a pull-string) who pesters his mother with innumerable questions about the night because he has already seen the day. Mother raccoon, however, instructs him to wait and sings him songs of the moon when she can't answer all of his questions at once. Finally the moon is full and, with his mother's graceful permission, off the little raccoon goes to enjoy the night and to learn about his new and bigger world. The adult reader and mother raccoon, however, understand what a child cannot: that the little raccoon must grow up enough before he can safely go out into the world to enjoy its pleasures and to cope with its perils. The charm and lessons lie in the writing and illustrations. Can't we just imagine how thin a moon is when it is as "thin as the curve of a raccoon's whisker?" Or understand the little raccoon's impatience when told to "wait until the moon is full?" Or to feel delight when the little raccoon's patience is rewarded and he can go out into the night to meet new friends and play in the moonlight? The appealing narrative and delightful illustrations, many in black and brown ink, will engross and entertain both the small child longing to explore the world and the adult reader who more fully understands the world's joys and sorrows and rich possibilities. This is a most highly recommended book for small children and the adults who read to them, the little raccoons and the mother raccoons in all of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story!, August 11, 2009
By
This was my favorite book as a child, and my mother saved my copy for so I can now read it to my daughter. This is a sweet story about a little racoon and his excitment to go outside for his first night out when the moon is finally full. This is the same author of other beloved books such as "THe Runaway Bunny" and "GoodNight Moon".

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, January 4, 2007
I bought this for my three year old daughter, largely based on the reviews. She took one look at the cover, wanted to read it, and didn't want to read any other books for the rest of the day. The writing is lyrical and sweet. I highly recommend it.

Although I did not read this book as a child, it is a wonderful classic and I see that many other parents loved it as children. It is a sweet story and my daughter loves reading it.
