5.0 out of 5 stars Huge Setlist amazing Tracks, October 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This album is one of those underrated masterpieces that few people know about. The album is incredible, with more than 15 tacks the album has songs for every taste of music ranging from a lot of genres, the boy-girl vocals are amazing, and some of the lyrics are deep while others are just sarcastic and humorous. A great CD for anyone who loves bands like Los Campesinos, The Constantines or Sarah Records Twee Pop movement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pop music that isn't boring, July 3, 2009
I'd like to preface by saying I'm no great music aficionado but I do know what I like.

First of all, this is a pop music album but that isn't to say that it's a bad thing. The New Pornographers are pop music, Spoon is pop music.

What I like most about this album is that Johnny Foreigner is able to achieve catchy hooks without being too predictable or boring. There are interesting riffs and enough changes in pace (but not too many) to keep the listener interested. Adding to this are the vocals of Alexei Berrow and Kelly Southern. Alexei probably isn't going to be in any signing competition but his voice adds a uniqueness to the sound which makes them stand out. Kelly has a very feminine sound which she can use to accentuate the music and song or if she so wants to she can dominate the song.

The best comparison I can give would be early Weezer. Like Weezer, Johnny Foreigner is catchy and memorable without getting boring and monotonous. In fact I have been listening to this album on my commute every day for the last 2 weeks.
