Go for it!,

What a book! "If Pinot Noir is a poet who whispers in your ear by firelight, Grenache wears a black leather jacket and picks you up on a Harley"...Get it? Now you know which one would be best for your mood tonight. The beauty is that you discover why the wines are different while having fun.
If you think a wine book has to be intimidating and super-technical, don't buy this one. It's about learning and discovering the world of wine without pain. The anecdotes, the self-deprecating attitude, remarkable humor and superb writing make this book an absolute must for everybody who is not a snob. BUY it. You will savor it.

Great gift!,

I was given this book by a dear friend who knows my tastes, both in wine and writing, and also knows that I can be a harsh critic of both. Now, after reading only about half of the delightfully literate chapters of Ms. Rosen's book, each of them as informative as they are funny, I'm here at Amazon buying copies for other friends. This woman knows her wine and the wine industry and is a wonderfully witty iconoclast, bucking tradition where it deserves to be bucked. Beginner or expert, you'll love this refreshing and wise take on wines and wine enjoyment.

Just plain fun to read,

Waiter, There's a Horse In My Wine is a chuckle-inducing collection of writings by internationally-acclaimed wine writer and educator Jennifer Rosen. Written with especial tongue-in-cheek humor, Waiter, There's a Horse in my Wine shows the reader how to deal with wine snobs, impress friends, and give enemies pause! Cartoonish black-and-white illustrations add a charming touch to this delightful guide; regardless of whether one is a connoisseur of wine or hardly ever drinks it, Waiter, There's a Horse In My Wine is just plain fun to read.

Just Plain Fun,
By David A. Chambers "Dave the Wine Merchant" (San Francisco, Anderson Valley, Sierra Foothills) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

Rosen's writing is creative and appealing without seeming forced, which is rare. This book will entertain even those who don't feel compelled to read everything ever written about the world of wine. Give this book to someone who's never read a wine book and they'll laugh their way through it before realizing how much they've learned.
Rosen is one of the food and wine writers I turn to when I want a little bit o' fun inserted into my day. She reminds me of what attracted me to the wine business in the first place. I can't read Rosen without smiling. Dave Chambers, Wine Merchant

Laughing and Learning,
This review is from: Waiter, There's a Horse in My Wine (Paperback)
I really enjoyed Jennifer's book. She has a great way with the American language. The book holds your attention while teaching aspects of wine that are not normally covered by the "Wine Snobs". I actually preferred her second book, but this was worth my time. I now use both books as hostess gifts when visiting my wine drinking friends.
She's also a Hottie!

Wine and Laughter: A Happy Marriage,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Waiter, There's a Horse in My Wine (Paperback)
As an antidote to the usual mundane wine reviews from traditionalist wine writers who bore with meaningless descriptions like "class" and "breed", Ol' Chotzi here, or rather in mile-high Denver, delivers her take on the current (in this case, "currant") wine scene. She is witty, willful and wise, all the things a good wine writer should be, even if she is stuck in middle America where little good wine is made. Her prickly newsletters are always a welcome relief from the usual dreary dregs of emails flooding the ether. Keep up the good work, Chotzi, and never, ever, concede a drop to the mincing minions of the grape.

Pick it out, like a bit of cork,

Pick this book up if you want to have a laugh about the world's oldest cupa. Jennifer Rosen examines people's relationships with wine and the many facets of wine's own personality. You'll laugh, you'll learn, you'll toast this natural, relaxed approach to such an enamored and intimidating subject. So pour some good bag-in-box cabernet into your favorite Happy Birthday mug, kick back and enjoy.
