Finding TRUE Love After 45~~~~~3.5 Rating, September 19, 2009
This review is from: Waiting for Mr. Darcy (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have a couple of Ms. Canton's books in my TBR pile...however, "Waiting for Mr. Darcy" is the first novel I've actually read...even though she keeps me ENTERTAINED throughout...it's quite a lengthy read and at times a bit redundant...that being said it's still a PLEASANT contemporary Jane Austen romance...the story is about three full figured best friends...two actively looking for their "Mr. Darcy"...and one in COMPLETE and total denial of that fact...I LOVE the camaraderie and antics between the women, their men and their extended circle of family and friends...this story is realistic and deals with issues that are going on today such as; health, social status, grief, divorce, custody and family...the full cast of characters is CAPTIVATING...and I also appreciate her point of view on voluptuous "older" women as still being sexy, vibrant and desirable...so, despite some of the repetitiveness within this story...IMHO Ms. Canton still creates a HEARTWARMING, mature and endearing multicultural romance. NOTE for those that ONLY read IR/Multicultural romances: Alicia & Nate BW/WM...Lauren & Randy BW/HM...Gabby & Nigel WW/BM.

Three is DEFINITELY not a crowd!!, September 5, 2009
This review is from: Waiting for Mr. Darcy (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok - get ready to laugh out loud, cheer, cry and TRY to pick your favorite character in this THICK story (398 pages!) Ms. Canton delivers a modern day Jane Austin that is so much fun! Gabby, Lauren and Alicia were boarding school buddies who also happen to be full figured young women. These women go on in their lives of spouses, children, careers, divorces, death and family but their friendship never wanes! At 46 these three women find love in all the most unusual places and circumstances - all with men who are not intimidated. Nate, Nigel and Randy are successful men, strong men, sensual men who can hold it down! Ms. Canton covers it all in 398 pages: divorce, sex, family, social status, illness, career and yes being a full figured woman. Diversity is also in this story as well. AND THE FOOD! Oh, this story is LOADED in wonderfully sensual food! While reading this book, I was on a "C-Food Diet": Chinese food, cantaloupe, crab cakes, chocolate, and cucumber salad and of course Champaign! I loved this story and I love the realism Ms. Canton brings to Gabby, Lauren and Alicia: their vulnerability and victories all can be found in our own mirrors, our own girlfriends. This story is around full figured women of the 45 year old crowd and the men are just as mature. This story is PERFECT for a Lifetime movie - and I am so not a television person, but for this I will be! Thank you Ms. Canton and Genesis Press for a mature, real story about people like me! Yes! I am waiting for my very own Mr. Darcy and he WILL find me! My favorite character in the story: Harrington of course! After his loss he still believes in love! My favorite moment in the story: The bag of frozen peas in the kitchen! My favorite drink in the story: Pomegranate Cosmopolitans!

Being In Love Is Ageless, November 1, 2009
This review is from: Waiting for Mr. Darcy (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
Every woman, at one time in their lives, will step out and look for love. But, what if you are in your forties and still waiting on the man of your dreams? You might just enlist your close friends and share in good conversation and great friendships on your quest for love. WAITING FOR MR. DORSEY by Chamein Canton takes you on a journey of three friends looking for love. Lauren, Alicia and Gabby are close friends who have a long history of being together through many important events in their lives. From adolescence through adulthood, they went through a variety of issues that affected their work, love lives, and their hearts. Mostly, they have two things in common. They are all full figured and ready to be loved. But commonality does not end there. They are successful, mature, and are seriously lacking in the love area. WAITING FOR MR. DARCY is a charming novel that is sprinkled with friendship, problems, divorces, romances, mid-life issues, good food and so much more. These childhood friends who met in boarding school share a serious bond that will withstand death, illness and pain. Set in New York, Canton takes you on a journal that will have you on an emotional roller coaster. You will find yourself shaking your head, laughing and feeling sad as you experience the issues that women over forty go through as they seek romance. I recommend this book for women who still believe that finding love at any age is possible. Reviewed by RM Jackson for The RAWSISTAZ (tm) Reviewers
