A religious experience,

I disagree with the previous reviewer. I find the addition of the gentle voice to be fantastic on songs like 'Always.'
This is my review of all three Adorney CDs. For me, his music is like a religious experience. At the same time, it is soothing and relaxing yet energizing. There are several tracks, including 'Celebration,' on the 'Beckoning' CD, and 'Always' on 'Waiting for the Moon,' that I will play over and over. I simply cannot get enough of them. I am not a serious musician, so I cannot give a technical critique. However, I find the instrumentation and arrangements to be superb. The music surrounds you with emotional warmth! Buy all three CDs!

Dont miss this guy!,

I am a huge fan of this guy! I started training for a marathon last spring, and I needed new music for the mp3 player. I love soothing new age music, but it had to have a rythim for my long runs. Yanni was my first choice, and he is brilliant. But hold the phone!!!! How do I say this? I am not a musician. Very fewpeople can start a New Age(I hate that name!)song, take you on a melodic journey, and bring it to a conclusion. Many sort of take one melody and work it to death and leave you in the middle of nowhere. Plus you are sick of it within 2 weeks. Mr. Adorney writes incredible music! This album is not the best of the 3 Adorney I have, but it has a lot to live up to. I still would buy it again if it were lost. He used more singing in this one, its great but to me his compositions of just music, make my brain smile. Listen to a few samples, and realize that you will like this guy more on the 50th time you have heard a song than even on the first. And if you are a runner? Wow!

Another Magical Multicolored Masterpiece!,
By Dave Gray (Ozarks) - See all my reviews

I've found that there's something very weird about John Adorney's albums (I have and cherish them all). The first time you listen to the album, you say, "That's quite nice!"; the next time you listen, you say, "That's REALLY lovely!!"; and the third time, you say, with goosebumps, "THAT'S INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL!!!"; and it just keeps getting better each time! And his fantastic new album, Waiting for the Moon, is no exception - I've just gone through this same progression of falling into enchantment all over again.I think this magical phenomenon may be due to the wondrous complexity and richness of Adorney's music - so many layers of lovely crystalline melodies and silken harmonies soaring so effortlessly over sensuous exotic rhythms - too much for a common mortal to completely absorb on the first hearing, but each time you hear more! And more!! Waiting for the Moon differs from Adorney's first two albums in two significant ways. First, there are powerful new notes of bittersweet wistfulness, sadness and longing, in contrast to the predominance of unadulterated joy in the earlier albums. Second, the phenomenal voice of Daya is at last given full rein in complete poetic lyrics - this pure, luscious, profoundly expressive voice sings straight from the heart of Adorney's music. [FYI, I have not been paid by Adorney or his producers! I'm just a teacher in Arkansas who wants you to buy this genius's music and keep him in business! He brings great beauty to a world that desperately needs it.]

Waiting for his next album,

Others here have said it more eloquently than I can, but this music is nice the first time and awesome the hundredth time you listen to it. Actually, I searched on John Adorney to see if he had any new albums as I've got all four and looking for more. Also, it's interesting to see what else John Adorney lovers listen to.

Breathtaking,

Beautiful! Listening to this, for me, evokes images and feelings of the Master crafting his art in "The Potter's Gift", the inexorable flow of life towards it's goal in "The River's Secret", and profound patience in "Waiting for the Moon". John Adorney and Daya strike a note in my soul each time I listen.

I bought this when I first heard the title track played on XM radio's 'Audio Visions'. That was over three years ago. It still remains my #1 favorite out of the nearly 1000 new age CDs in my collection. Hardly a day goes by when it doesn't get played. The soul-stirring layers of harmony and melody are musical perfection. My only knock on this one would have to be the vocals, which are found on four of the ten tracks. The voice is lovely in its own right, but sounds lost and out of place when coupled with such bold and beautiful music that is already speaking for itself.

Wordless song,

First thing in the morning I listen to the music of P.C. Davidoff, Riley Lee, Coyote Oldman, Karma Moffett, Liquid Mind, John Mark . . . It's a spiritual time for me (in the generic sense). I'm happy to have found John Adorney's music and to have another source of morning music. My criticism, which has been made by others, is that he has vocal tracks that do not wear well and take me out of where I want to be. His purely instrumental tracks are timeless; his vocal tracks are a nuisance.

Lonesome Entrepreneurial Consultant,
By
This review is from: Waiting for the Moon (Audio CD)
In March of 2004, I left a high profile job just to see if I could make it from scratch bottom on my own. For the past nine months, I built a solitary consulting practice on the second floor of my house. Each day as I worked, I would listen to the New Age station on AOL Radio (now an XM version) - the most pleasant, satisfying, but non-distracting radio I could find. Each day, John Adorney's cuts from "Waiting For The Moon" came on at various times and they each stood out for me. I would turn up the sound, sit back - and enjoy my freedom.
Thanks, John.
