A wonderful horror collection,

This review is from: Waiting For October (Paperback)
This is an excellent collection of short horror fiction. I couldn't put it down. I've been a fan of Jeff Strand and Sarah Pinsborough for a long time, but this was my first encounter with Adam Pepper and Jeffrey Thomas. All 12 stories were well written, some with a touch of humor and others with a touch of gore. Fabulous. The only downfall of the collection is that it was too short. I could have read twice as many, and still not have tired.

Dark Arts brings us another winning four-in-one anthology,
By
This review is from: Waiting For October (Paperback)
I have to thank Dark Arts Books for introducing me to some fine new authors, new to me, at least. First it was CANDY IN THE DUMPSTER, their first four-author multi-story anthology, edited by the always excellent writer/editor Bill Breedlove, which I bought for the authors I knew but discovered that the ones I didn't know were well worth getting acquainted with too.
Now it's WAITING FOR OCTOBER, again edited by the multi-talented Bill Breedlove, which I snatched up for the stories by one of my favorite authors, Jeffrey Thomas. And sure enough, Adam Pepper, Sarah Pinborough, and Jeff Strand each contribute stories that made me glad I'm a Jeffrey Thomas completist, 'cause now I've added three new authors to my growing list of those to keep an eye out for. Nothing but quality goods here, stories I'll enjoy returning to again and again. This one's a keeper, for sure. |
