Book Description

Ten years ago, Lexie Dodson fled her home in rural Ohio, leaving behind a heartbroken brother and abandoning a devastated fiancé. While chasing her desire of a fast-paced life in the city, and the obscurity of urban life, she is shaken to her very core by an act of violence that leaves her betrayed, broken, and pregnant—and with nowhere to go but home.

Seeking refuge and facing gut-wrenching decisions, she is confronted not only with the past she left behind, but also with a love that never died—a love waiting for something to stoke the flames.

Told from the perspective of four characters, Waiting on Hope will stay with you well after the last page has been turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping tragedy, turns to hope October 16, 2011
By Karen B
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Independent and driven, Lexie Dodson leaves her home in rural Ohio to pursue a photography career in Pittsburgh. She leaves behind a broken engagement to the only man she ever loved. Her family is hurt by her sudden departure.

Ten years later, when tragedy rips her life apart, she returns home--broken and numb. She struggles to recover from being victimized at the hand of a man she knew.

As she learns how to move beyond her pain, she must also learn how to rebuild broken relationships with her family and her former fiance who is still single. He never did move on.

This book gripped me from the opening lines. The beginning of the book read more like a suspense novel as the author carries the reader into the darkness of Lexie's mind after she was victimized. I instantly connected with Lexie's plight and rooted for life to turn around for her. I wanted to see her broken heart and relationships restored. And I was not disappointed.

The author delivers an emotional story in an intense way. As secret is revealed, another is waiting to be uncovered. The author did a superb job of moving the story forward.

I really loved this story and watching Lexie grow as she recovered from a heart breaking tragedy.

Be advised, this book has some strong language and it deals with topics suited only for a mature audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL....EMOTIONAL June 20, 2012
By Belinda
Format:Paperback
I gave this book 5 stars, because it is truly full of raw and true emotions. I like the fact that Souders lets you see all the sides of a rape victim. Especially a rape victim who becomes pregnant as a result. Souders truly goes in depth and lets the reader feel what the main character feels. Lexie is the rape victim who lets you see all of her struggles, fears and how life can be cruel and loving all at the same time. I couldn't put it down.
I can't wait to read another book by T.M Souders.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope Does Float... November 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Waiting on Hope proved to be a most satisfying read and I am glad that I took a chance on this novel.

T.M. Souders has crafted an engaging and absorbing work with fully realized characters, dense and intelligent plotting and romantic as well as dramatic tension. There is a constantly evolving atmosphere that underpins the novel too, which keeps the reader invested from the beginning and it doesn't walk a traditional path towards absolution. This makes for a rewarding reading experience that is sadly lacking from many novels of this similar genre.

Souders' protagonist, Lexie Dodson, is a a woman who stands apart as a character of surprising depth and contradiction and I found her journey in particular, to be rich and satisfying - even if it was at times uncomfortable.

T.M. Souders writes with an authentic voice, a natural prose wherein dialogue and sentence construction are convincing and well paced. Emotion is well defined in her style too and I can honestly say - as a man - I kinda dug getting emotionally invested. I had a tissue or two on standby.

Waiting On Hope is a worthy addition to your Kindle library and I encourage fans of character driven stories to consider this book for theirs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard topic - great book! December 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Loved it! I found myself engrossed in this story. Maybe it was the fact that Ms. Souders touched on a subject that few can write about well, or maybe it was just the story itself, but no matter what, I enjoyed it.

Ms. Souders wrote about a subject that is very tough for people to discuss. Her ability to write it using real life emotions and depicting it in such a way that it appeared completely real, was excellent.

The characters were deep, giving you a great base for who they were and what they were about. The writing style was smooth and gave enough detail without giving to much.

Highly enjoyed and will recommend to many people!

4.0 out of 5 stars Emotional rollercoaster January 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was such a good book about a woman dealing with a horrific rape, going home facing her family and ex fiance. So many emotions, told from the view of several of the main characters, all of which were interesting and vital to the story. loved it, thought it was very well written.
You could really feel for the main character as her depression and despair gripped her, it wasn't an easy road out of that dark hole, but an uplifting ending as friends and family reached out and made her whole again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drop everything and read this book! December 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I read Waiting on Hope by T.M. Souders in one day; I could not put it down. This is one of those gems that grab you from page one and will not let you go after you finish reading the last word. It is a book about rape and its aftermath - what is left of the woman after the rape that changed her life forever. I knew this book was worth its weight in gold during the first scene of the book, when I could literally feel the cold cement under my toes - and I was not once disappointed - the story is powerful and self-sustaining for the duration.

I have seldom come across such well developed characters - they give you access to their innermost feelings, you find yourself thinking alongside with them as they work out their fears and hopes and problems - you literally feel what they are feeling in any particular scene. Nothing is rushed or avoided, the timing and cadence of every scene is perfectly in tune with the situation and with the rest of the book; nothing seems contrived or far-fetched - this book could be a faithful account of something that is happening to you or your neighbor or your friend.

Waiting on Hope is a book about resilience and healing, about the power of love and the healing power of hope; it is a book about forgiveness and second chances, about lifting yourself from the ashes with the support of the ones that love you unconditionally - all wrapped in a phenomenal plot that is an absolute triumph. It is impossible for me to do it justice in my review - you just have to drop whatever you are doing, buy it and read it, because this is one book you will not want to miss. Seriously.
