4.0 out of 5 stars A Less Than Perfect Hero...
A pleasant mix of romance with a bit of mystery...even though the romance is a little too quick and UNBELIEVABLE...once again I find myself CAUGHT UP in all the characters...and the storyline of the IMPERFECT hero is realistic, different and cute...and Sparks keeps me in stitches with his clumsiness throughout.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waiting for it to end..
Once in a while you come across novels where the main characters are shallow and underdeveloped, well here it is. I thought the plot was weak and the storyline didn't do anything for me.

I don't like to go into details of a story, so I'm going to give a quick summary. Devin's husband is killed and she finds out that he has a secret past. While...

While investigating his past, Devin meets Spark, who is following her to get information for his sister. Within a few hours of Devin and Spark meeting, she spends a night over his house and then stays a few days....unrealistic. Spark, well he is the first clumsy hero I have read about. He is constantly tripping over objects or falling down. Sparks decides to help Devin in finding information about her husband past. Devin eventually finds out that Spark is brother of the woman that her husband was once married to and all hell breaks loose. I found the dialogue was flat it had no substance to keep you interested. As for the romance, that was bland too. If it wasn't for Spark clumsiness, which added a little humor to the story I don't think I would have finished it. I don't recommend this book unless you can get it from the library.

Michelle Sudler's WAITING IN THE SHADOWS is Devin's tale of discovering her husband dead in his car in a parking lot, shot in the head. She has no idea who would want to kill him because he was such a nice man, so good to her, their children and her family. She makes the funeral arrangements but before the services, someone from another state takes his body. What is going on? She knows she must get to the bottom of it. Two years later, she is ready to try. Her first stop is Delaware, where Chris is from. Some wild woman sent her a letter claiming Chris as her own, only she called him Richard. Devin knows she must find out who this woman is. She is also sure she is being watched and she fears for their twin daughters. At the airport she meets Darnel, a nice man who is also headed for Delaware. They become friends on the plane and he rescues her from not having a place to stay. Will Darnel, also known as Spark, be able to help her solve her mystery? Spark also has his own secrets. Is he willing to help?

Michelle Sudler penned a very good novel that keeps those pages turning. It is a combination of mystery and romance which keeps the intrigue going. It is well written and I would recommend it to those who love romance with some mystery tossed in to keep it hot.

I loved the book. I read your book on Charles and now it is good to catch up on the Avery family. I liked that the hero was not perfect. He was pretty realistic in my opinion. I think it was cute that he was so clumsy, lol. The story progressed well and I look forward to your next book
