5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful !
I lucked on to this CD! The music is smooth and romantic, uplifting and inspirational! It takes me back to old loves and dreams of the future. I can relate. I love driving with it as much as I do listening to it over a candlelight dinner. This is a must have for feel good love songs. Every song has somethng in the melody that catches you off guard and draws you in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Optimistic Choice Leads to Disappointment
I first heard the song "Waiting for the Sun" on a Jazziz compilation. In the isolation of that setting, the song is a lovely little gem: the spare and simple arrangement beautifully framing Brier's fragile, unpretentious voice as well as the song's literate and clever lyric. I expected more in this vein from the CD, but that led me to be sorely disappointed. While there...

While there are some of that song's smart spirit on the rest of the the CD -- like the reference to "That's Amore" (of all things!) in "Suddenly It's Love," and the fanfare from Jimmy Webb's/The Fifth Dimension's "Up, Up and Away" in "Closer to the Sun" -- the CD settles too often for overblown, even schmaltzy arrangements that only accentuate the limits of Brier's nasal baritone. Don't get me wrong: I do like Brier's voice -- it is plaintive, vulnerable, simple and honest, with occassional horn-like and woodwind sounds -- but it needs better material and more considerate production than it gets here. If Brier can write and sing a song as good as "Waiting for the Sun," then he can do better than the treacle on the rest of this CD.

I would highly recommend "Waiting for the Sun" and give it an A+.

I gave this gift to myself first and have reordered it at least 5 times to give to my music loving friends. It is a quiet, calming, uplifting, light jazz collection to be enjoyed by all.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite New Artist!, April 5, 2009
This review is from: Waiting for the Sun (Audio CD)
I love Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Michale Bubble', Michael Franks, Eliane Elias. I'm always looking for new artists but there seems to be nothing but hard core bebop, girl singers doing the same old standards or smooth jazz. Nothing in between! I came across Lindsey Brier from an article and I am so excited that we finally have new artist that plays the kind of music I love. His voice reminds me a little of James Taylor and his songs are awesome. Every song on this CD is brilliant!

My favorite new artist in a long time!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable listening experience., February 28, 2009
This review is from: Waiting for the Sun (Audio CD)
I first heard about this artist, Lindsey Brier and his album from a good friend. When I went online to buy it from amazon, Unfortunately, it was not yet available. I lucked out and was able to find it and purchase it elsewhere. I say lucked out because, I am one who values great vocals, and arraingments. Lindsey Brier and his beautiful new album, Waiting For The Sun, is refreshing in that it is everything that I love in good music. It is new and original, in a traditional time tested style. Each track tells a story that is inspirational and that many can relate to. It's real life with pleasant and relaxing melodies. Lindsey Brier's music is some of the best that I have heard in a long time. He is great writer of songs as well as one heck of a singer. I highly recommend this album and I give it a FIVE STAR rating.Joe Cerasa.
