5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book!
This was one of the most unusual time travels I've ever read. I really enjoyed the method of travel as well as the twin storyline. I've researched this time period extensively, and I can say the author pulled me into the story with her convincing setting and wonderful plot. I highly recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars a very sweet book, April 16, 2002

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I was able to read it all in one day and I had to work today too. Its an easy read and made my day brighter.

This is a time travel book where the heroine, a modern woman named Barrett, meets up with her guardian angel Gideon. Gideon sees that her life is very unfullfilling. She has never known love even from her family and he decides there is only one way to show what love is. Send her back in time to 1887. She arrives in the body of a woman named Elizabeth who is giving birth. What an entrance. Elizabeth's husband and half brother are attending her. They can't quite figure out how the prim, proper, and very unassuming Elizabeth has sudden turned into this vocal, independant self assured woman who demand to be Barrett. Barrett has no clue as to how she has arrived. she thinks its a bad dream. She soon discovers though that its all real and she now has a baby and a angry and remote husband to deal with.

Over time she becomes adjusted to her new life and longs to have a real relationship with Chase, her husband. But something she knows nothing about stands in the way. Chase is confused and still hurt by past events but cannot deny the strong feelings he has for Barrett.

This is a sweet story with wonderful secondary characters. I will have to read more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet, Enchanting Romance, March 15, 2003

I must start by saying I don't normally like time travel books but I picked this book because it sounded interesting. I was not disappointed.

This is the story of Barrett Overbrook. She is at a point in her life where she isn't exactly happy being. She drives to a bed and breakfast where her life changes completely. She falls asleep and wakes up giving birth in the 1880's! She also discovers she's married and has a biracial brother-in-law.

This story was romantic, funny and sweet! Barrett, a.k.a. Elizabeth, is funny trying to adjust to the new time she is in. She slips up and says the funniest things for the time period she is in. Her husband, Chase, doesn't understand the drastic changes in his wife. The stiff, formal Elizabeth has undergone a dramatic change during childbirth. She is a completely different person. Barrett, during a conversation with her guardian angel Mr. Gideon, discovers she has been brought back in time and is stuck there until she learns to love and accepts love. Her feelings toward Mr. Gideon are quite hilarious.

I can't express enough how much I loved this book. The storyline was wonderful. The characters were well developed and seemed real. Chase was a great character. The character of Wes seemed to really add to the story. Mr. Gideon added to the story also. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next and read this book in one day. The story was written so well that there were not any dull periods in it. It read smoothly from one chapter to the next and was just an all around great read. This is a feel good story. A keeper for anyones library.

4.0 out of 5 stars One to pick up, May 10, 2000
This review is from: Waiting for Yesterday (Paperback)
I actually borrowed this book from my younger sister, and went ahead to buy a couple more by the author. She is my new favorite. This book was a very nice change from the grocery store romance I so often give a try (and end up disappointed). I really felt for the characters!Very different I thought, and I really did love it right up until the end. Great book, Ms. Lykins keep them coming! (I'm waiting for your next one)

4.0 out of 5 stars I didn't want to put it down!, August 16, 1999
This review is from: Waiting for Yesterday (Paperback)
This is the first novel I have read by Ms.Lykins. It was exciting and fast pace. I enjoyed learning some things about the year 1897. I did not care for the ending. It would have been great if she and the family all went back home to 1997.

1.0 out of 5 stars The least liked time-travel romance I've read!, August 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Waiting for Yesterday (Paperback)
Sorry, but I thought this book was boring. I guess I just didn't get it. I think the twin thing was taken way to far (her being a twin and him being a twin). And also, wasn't it stupid to anyone else that she couldn't tell apart the twin brothers especially where she was a twin herself? Give me a break! If you want a really good time travel romance read "Knight in Shining Armor" by Jude Devereau.

5.0 out of 5 stars a heart-warming story, May 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Waiting for Yesterday (Paperback)
Barrett Overbrook doesn't realize how empty her life is until her guardian angel sends her back in time and she finds herself giving birth. Barrett's stuggles to cope with raising a baby, the lack of modern conveniences and with her troubled husband will touch your heart. This book is well-written and fast-paced.
