Erica Bryant is in France to learn more about wine making to start a new strain of grapes for her parents' winery which she hopes to run one day. What she didn't come to France for was romance, but that's what she gets when she meets Joshua Knight, the head enologist of one of France's best wine growers. Joshua met Erica when they were teenagers and there was something between them then but tragedy sent his family away. This time he intends to explore everything between them. When Erica figures out who Joshua is, she knows it was meant for them to meet again. Joshua's plans to begin his own winery are put on hold when his employer announces Joshua as his replacement instead of his daughter, Dominique. Dominique gets engaged to Erica's best friend Hubert despite a feud between their families. Her father's sexist attitudes has Dominique giving up on ever running the winery. After an argument, someone frames her for trying to sabotage the wine barrels and with Erica's help they go looking for answers. Erica's glad to help. For the price of one book readers get double the romance in this charming love story set amidst a romantic setting complete with intrigue and sensuality. Reviewer, Darlene Kendall.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Love, Like A Fine Wine, Is To Be Savored!, April 27, 2005
By

This review is from: Waiting for You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
In "Waiting For You", American Erica Bryant travels to France to hone her skills as a winemaker. While there she literally bumps into Joshua Knight. It turns out, Joshua (also a winemaker) is the very boy Erica had a crush on when she was a little girl. Only that was no crush...he's no longer a boy...and she's certainly not a little girl anymore!

Need I say more? Well, let me say that HOT is an understatement when describing the reacquainting of Erica and Joshua. This sister has found her "Knight" and she learns just what to do with him. In other words, Erica hones more than her winemaking skills. Whew! Janice Sims has sparks flying all over the wine French countryside! She introduces her readers to interesting places and she does it with unmatched descriptive skill. You'll feel like you've had a vacation in Burgundy, France.

It's a given that this couple finds true love and discovers that they can't live without each other. But the author skillfully brings them back to America and introduces the reader to a whole new set of characters. All of the secondary characters are well developed. And the exciting part is there are plans for sequels starring Erica's brothers sometime next year.

The one thing a Janice Sims novel will do for you is leave you longing for more, more, more. This one is no different! I don't believe I can wait a year for Franklyn or Jason's stories Ms. Sims...bump the deadline up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Waiting for More . . ., April 11, 2005

Ms. Sims can't write fast enough to feed her hungry audience, but when she serves up delicious stories like "Waiting For You," we come away sated and this time a little buzzed on wine. [I still have a sappy grin on my face after imbibing on this story].

We learn so much from a Janice Sims' novel and this time it is the wine industry. That's why her novels appeal to so many. She always takes us to a new level of knowledge and interest. Her characters come to life and teach us at the same time. Like her stories, Janise Sims is a wine expert; not a 40 oz. novelist like some others who write in this genre.

I just wish she could write faster . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh My God!, September 17, 2005
This review is from: Waiting for You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Oh my god! I cant belive how good this book was! I was in need of a really good love story, not those soppy ones that are sometimes published by arabesque. Anyways, Janice Sims makes you fall in love with every single one of her characters in every book! I loved the relationship between Joshua and Erica straight away and all the secondary characters had good storylines too unlike some other books where the writers just forget about them. I really cant wait for the two sequels as I'm eager to see what happens with Franklyn and Elise and Jason and Sara. I love ALL Janice Sims books! (Written by a 14 year old)

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ROMANCE, May 9, 2005
This review is from: Waiting for You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I can't wait for the next book of the trilogy! Once you start this book, it's almost impossible to put it down. It is a book everyone can relate to, because everyone has had a special relationship at a very early age that they never forget or totally get over. This book brings back special memories of your own past and it's very easy to get lost in its romance. You will also learn a few things about wine making, if your an amateur, as I am.

I loved this book from the beginning until the end. Since this is the first book in the series, I feel the characters were well developed. Erica and Joshua were great. Both families in California and France were also great. Hubert and Dominique were very funny. I am can not wait until the next story in this series is released.

3.0 out of 5 stars A long time coming..., January 23, 2005

As a child growing up on her family's vineyard in the Sonoma Valley, Erica Bryant experienced her first blush of young love. Erica was so infatuated with Joshua Knight, a migrant worker who was several years her senior, that she became his shadow. Even though Joshua did not do anything to encourage her, Erica found herself hoping against hope that he would one day return her feelings. Much to Erica's dismay, the romance was not to be. When her family's harvest was over, Joshua and his family moved on to the next job.

Years later, Erica runs into Joshua at a winery in Paris. He has changed so much over the years that she doesn't recognize him, but Joshua knows who she is. After a brief game of "guess who", Erica remembers Joshua. Realizing that her feelings for Joshua did not diminish with the passage of time, Erica sets out on a mission to claim the only man she has ever loved.

In WAITING FOR YOU, Janice Sims' latest release, she takes us deep into the heart of wine country, both here and abroad. Her vivid description of the land, and her knowledge of the winemaking industry were so impressive, it was as if she was born into a family of vintners. Unfortunately, the story seemed to focus more on the ins and out of the industry, which overshadowed the romance between the couple. Not only did I want to get to know the couple more, being a hopeless romantic, I also wanted to experience the full gamut of emotions between Erica and Joshua as they re-discovered their love for each other. Hopefully Sims' next novel will bring back that fire and desire that her previous works are known for.
