Because there are no sample pages, I was a bit hesitant to plop down 25 bucks for this book. I decided to just be wild and do it anyway. I'm SO GLAD I BOUGHT IT; It's just beautiful. Here's my attempt at helping others peek inside the book: Each spread has a black and white photograph of the dried flower paper used on the cover. Sharp. Every other page has a great little quote about hope or love or family. Some of them gave me goosebumps. The books is broken up into sections. Opening. Place to sign the beginning of your journey. One page of beautiful text that reads like it came straight from my own heart: "Although we have yet to meet, I promise to love you unconditionally, to celebrate your gifts, and to nurture your character and spirit. I offer these words that you might glimpse a world that was showered with love, commitment, and anticipation long before you arrived as a blessed miracle in my life." The rest of the sections are as follows: About Me: Looking Back About Me: Looking Now About Me: Looking Ahead Room in My Heart and Home Home for the Holidays Family that Awaits You My Family Growing Up An Heirloom I Want You to Have Family History Family Recipes Defining the Dream The Waiting Game One Day at a Time The Wait is Over ***** At the end of the book. THere are 4 blank pages. You can use these for photographs, more journaling, signatures, a letter from your spouse if you're adopting as a couple, you name it. In the end, I couldn't be happier about this book. Well constructed. Gender neutral. A great investment. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

For your nightstand, not your library, January 28, 2003

...standing on soapbox...ahem, I own TWO copies of Waiting for You and one copy of Till There Was You. BOTH books are great. Till There Was You does offer writing areas, but it's spiral bound and just not as pretty as this one. I wanted the info that Till There Was You offered, but as a mother, I also wanted the pretty pages that Waiting for You offered. As a wife, I like that my husband has his own copy too. I'm a control freak and frankly, his handwriting does not belong in MY book. HA! I know, I know, his handwriting is part of his history and our child will cherish it, blah blah blah. :) OH well. The other bonus is that I'm not waiting around for him or, as in most cases, doing all the work myself! He fills in the pages at his own pace with as much or as little as he feels like writing. So far, so good! I also like that Waiting for You has places for photographs. It has been a lot of fun for my husband and I to work on those pages together. It's great that our child will get 2 pictures of each family member. It's also made us realize that we need to be taking more pictures! Till There Was You was also pretty baby-specific, and since we are adopting out of the fostercare system and don't know what age we'll have, I liked that Waiting for You wasn't as narrow focused. If you're in my boat, I would also highly recommend On Our Own. It's a book specifically about adopting older kids. I have also really enjoyed any books by Perspective Press. They're all great. If you're adopting too, good luck and God bless!

What a blessed book! Filled with touching quotes, this is a perfect gift for adopting parents prior to placement. It is designed for a parent to create a sort of autobiography of themselves for their future child. Adopting couples would probably need two copies. Would work for infant or older child adoptions, as well as domestic or international, and single parent, married couples, or alternative families. Well-made. Heirloom Quality. Highest recommendations.
