Because there are no sample pages, I was a bit hesitant to plop down 25 bucks for this book. I decided to just be wild and do it anyway. I'm SO GLAD I BOUGHT IT; It's just beautiful. Here's my attempt at helping others peek inside the book:Each spread has a black and white photograph of the dried flower paper used on the cover. Sharp. Every other page has a great little quote about hope or love or family. Some of them gave me goosebumps. The books is broken up into sections. Opening. Place to sign the beginning of your journey. One page of beautiful text that reads like it came straight from my own heart: "Although we have yet to meet, I promise to love you unconditionally, to celebrate your gifts, and to nurture your character and spirit. I offer these words that you might glimpse a world that was showered with love, commitment, and anticipation long before you arrived as a blessed miracle in my life." The rest of the sections are as follows: About Me: Looking Back About Me: Looking Now About Me: Looking Ahead Room in My Heart and Home Home for the Holidays Family that Awaits You My Family Growing Up An Heirloom I Want You to Have Family History Family Recipes Defining the Dream The Waiting Game One Day at a Time The Wait is Over ***** At the end of the book. THere are 4 blank pages. You can use these for photographs, more journaling, signatures, a letter from your spouse if you're adopting as a couple, you name it. In the end, I couldn't be happier about this book. Well constructed. Gender neutral. A great investment. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

...standing on soapbox...ahem, I own TWO copies of Waiting for You and one copy of Till There Was You. BOTH books are great. Till There Was You does offer writing areas, but it's spiral bound and just not as pretty as this one. I wanted the info that Till There Was You offered, but as a mother, I also wanted the pretty pages that Waiting for You offered. As a wife, I like that my husband has his own copy too. I'm a control freak and frankly, his handwriting does not belong in MY book. HA! I know, I know, his handwriting is part of his history and our child will cherish it, blah blah blah. :) OH well. The other bonus is that I'm not waiting around for him or, as in most cases, doing all the work myself! He fills in the pages at his own pace with as much or as little as he feels like writing. So far, so good! I also like that Waiting for You has places for photographs. It has been a lot of fun for my husband and I to work on those pages together. It's great that our child will get 2 pictures of each family member. It's also made us realize that we need to be taking more pictures! Till There Was You was also pretty baby-specific, and since we are adopting out of the fostercare system and don't know what age we'll have, I liked that Waiting for You wasn't as narrow focused. If you're in my boat, I would also highly recommend On Our Own. It's a book specifically about adopting older kids. I have also really enjoyed any books by Perspective Press. They're all great. If you're adopting too, good luck and God bless!

What a blessed book! Filled with touching quotes, this is a perfect gift for adopting parents prior to placement. It is designed for a parent to create a sort of autobiography of themselves for their future child. Adopting couples would probably need two copies. Would work for infant or older child adoptions, as well as domestic or international, and single parent, married couples, or alternative families. Well-made. Heirloom Quality. Highest recommendations.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. It's beautiful. We're not sure of the age child we will get so this book was a perfect fit. I love all the places for photographs. It's a beautiful book. Designed for any child, any age, any adopting situation. Very thoughtful and sweet. God Bless!

We are all, as prospective adoptive parents, bursting inside with anticipation and happiness, and to put down our feelings and thoughts in a journal for our future child is a lovely idea. I wish I had done this for our daughter, and will certainly recommend the book to friends who are adopting. I have an idea for Kirsten Davis: I wrote a journal during the four-month period we were waiting to meet our birthmother. I couldn't help writing it.Gisela Gasper Fitzgerald, author of ADOPTION: An Open, Semi-Open or Closed Practice?

I work with an international adoption agency, Children's Hope International, and we see many adoption journals and books. The nice thing about this particular book is that it is not age specific. It's difficult to find an adoption book that doesn't start from birth. It's also not specific to international or domestic, you could easily use this for either process. This would be a nice book for international adoptions. The only thing I didn't like about the book is that it only has sections for one parent to fill in. I don't like the idea of having a separate book for mother and father, I think it would be better if there were sections for both parents to fill out. However, for single parents, this book would be perfect! The book is mostly about yourself, history of you and what you were feeling during the wait, etc. It's a lovely book. I like the blank pages in the back. It would be nice to use these similar to the signature pages in a yearbook for people to sign as you wait or when they meet your child.

I got this book as a gift from my mother in law. It is the nicest thing she ever got me. All of my girlfriends who didn't struggle with infertility just don't get it. Sometimes I don't get. But even once we decided to adopt, I felt like I should have a banner printed that said 'I'M GONNA BE A MOMMY TOO, DAG NAB IT!" Even if I don't get to wear special clothes or have complete strangers asking to touch my belly, I am expecting. This book made me feel special. It has dried flowers pictured on the pages and cool quotes and the gray pages are soft and don't intimidate my less-than-ideal handwriting. I can write as much or as little as I want. Lots of different things to cover. THe only thing I would suggestis that if you are buying it as a gift for a couple, buy 2. I thought I would be able to make do. But it just doesn't really work. Especially in the areas where you want to tell your future kid all about your life growing up. My husband doesn't care about having a book like this for himself, so he's just going to write a letter to our future kid and we'll put it at the end of the book where there are a couple of blank pages for anything. Awesome book!

8 Gazillion Pregnancy Journals and Nothing for Those adopting. A friend told me about this book and I was almost afraid to get my hopes up, but it turns out, I could have. THIS BOOK IS BEAUTIFUL. I will be sad to see it go out of print. I'm glad my daughter will have one. I'm not a scrapbook person so this is JUST the right about of prep time with the beautiful end product. I'm sure scrapbook-aholics would love it also, but I'm not what we call, "creative." At the same time, I want my daughter to know that I love her and this book will help affirm that. THANKS!

Thoughtful and Inspiring Gift - HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS,

My daughter turned to adoption after years of agonizing and unsuccessful infertility treatments. This book offered her power and patience. Not only did "Waiting for You" celebrate her journey towards motherhood, it also validated my understanding of her journey. Now that's she and her husband have decided to adopt, her pain has melted and she has the energy and excitement of the little girl I raised, heading out the door with optimism towards her first lemonaid stand. I came across this book by accident on Amazon and ordered it directly from the author through their "used and new" feature. It came brand new and hand-signed by the author, plus I saved a few dollars. I bought two copies - one for my daughter and one for my son-in-law. They are already using them and my daughter says that it has strengthened their commitment to adopt, to each other, and to their faith in Christ. She loves the inspiring quotes on each page. All those years of infertility - I felt so powerless. I couldn't take away the pain of my own baby. This book is great way to help celebrate God's intended path.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend of mine who is adopting. She loves it and is so appreciative of the layout that helps her easily document this wonderful time of her life. I thought it was a great gift because it's so easy for the parents to introduce themselves to the baby since most of it is a fill-in-the-blank autobiography. This makes the perfect gift for a most special occasion.
