Waiting for Eros, July 16, 2010
This review is from: Waiting at Eros (Kindle Edition)
I agree with the first review. It's a nice short story about these women who have been with the same man on their vacation. I really liked the twist at the end. If one doesn't have much time to read and would like a nice short story that keeps your interest and can be read in 30 minutes, this would be the book.

Vacation Romance Nostalgia, June 30, 2010
This review is from: Waiting at Eros (Kindle Edition)
This is a lovely short story that reflects on the memory and impact of a vacation romance in the life of young women. There is NO erotica.

Interesting concept, but tedious and not a page turner, August 9, 2010
This review is from: Waiting at Eros (Kindle Edition)
I wanted to try the free e-book to see if I like the author's writing--and would gladly buy her books if I had. First of all, I find the title and eye-catching cover misleading. It looks a bit like an erotic, vampiresque secret meeting, but in fact, it's nothing of the sort. No seductive women and no graphic/erotic writing, which I don't like to read.
In fact, the women in the story are mostly married--one with a small child in tow--and meet in a public area. They are all there to meet this one man from their past. And an interesting meeting it should be with his past women in the same place!
I love the premise, but I found the dialogue tedious and not that interesting:
1. Where's the real conflict?
2. Why are all these women so drawn to meet a man from years ago?
3. What was he like to keep them mentally on the string all these years?
The ladies don't talk about their experiences with "him." It would have been more interesting to know the protagonist's real identity earlier and create a dialogue that makes the other women suspicious or jealous (as they would be in real life).
At the end, the story shifts abruptly to reveal the "surprise" ending, which by then wasn't a total surprise. Overall a bit disappointing.
I liked the idea of a short story you can read in 30+ minutes that's engaging and thought-provoking, but I didn't find it here.
