I grew up listening to and seeing Manu Dibango every Friday in Ivory Coast. The man has a groove and tempo in his music that is just hypnotically entertaining. In this particular album he brought in other heavy Weight Champions like Youssur Ndour, King Sony Ade who just take the beat to RootCaly Wonderfull hemisphere. I love it!!!! While "Soul Makossa" is the most famous tune on this album, "Wakafrika" is the single best instrumental song ever recorded in Afrika, IMO. :-)

This is one of my favorite world music albums, one of my favorites in general. Melody, rhythm and lyrics blend together into something unique, but, not too foreign. Well worth a listen.

This has to be one of the best CDs I own!,

This CD is killer. There isn't one song that isn't great. OK, maybe one, the last cut: Ca Va Choula, but it doesn't take away from the whole of the CD. I have certain CDs that I own that I consider precious jewelry and this is one of them.
