Idiots,
By
This review is from: Wake the Dead (Audio CD)
Anyone that says that this sounds like Sum 41 is a moron. Check out 'franky's' other reviews. He's a complete idiot. He compares Soilwork to Creed and As I Lay Dying to Korn. Moron. This record is HARDCORE, and some of the best hardcore I've heard in a while. Comeback Kid plays a melodic and fast positive form of pure hardcore that sounds like it came straight out of '95, the way some of like it. With CBK there are no gimmicks or fronts, just fast oldskool music that most 'hardcore' bands today really really lack. If you're a fan of hardcore but you don't like Comeback Kid then you probably either think that From Autumn to Ashes is hardcore and you probably have hair in your eyes and some make-up on or you think your tough cuz you listen to Throwdown and Bury Your Dead. Either way, you're an idiot. CBK is amazing, and this record owns. Buy it.

CATCHY,
This review is from: Wake the Dead (Audio CD)
Wow, this is good, there's not much else I could say about it. It def. has a different sound to it then turn it around though, but's thats not a bad thing, turn it around was great and so is this, but there different albums. On this one the songs are a lot more punk rooted, and there a bit more linear. Overall though this is exactly what a second album should sound like, its different than the first but just as good. buy it now.

"catchy" hardcore?,
By Chris (Easton/Kutztown PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wake the Dead (Audio CD)
this record is one of the "catchiest" hardcore records released in a while. the only thing that i had previously disliked about comeback kid was their tendency, at least on their previous full length, to occasionally revert to old hardcore stereotypes of the breakdown, the "two-step" part (whatever that is...) and lots and lots of gang vocals. this record ups the ante and takes the bane-esque modern hardcore sound and thankfully keeps true to both the music and the message, while adding their own interesting spin at times. while neither a ground-breaker nor a classic, this is still a solid record that avoids falling into the generic pitfalls that overwhelm so many other bands in this genre.

i love this album...what with Stevenson producing it, plus the fact that comeback kid is sweet, you get orgasmic feelings in your pants. with the drummer from the descendents AND black flag producing it...what could go wrong? oh and don't listen to mr. "i-don't-wanna-sign-up-because-i'm-just-so-important-and-busy" he has no idea what he's talking about.

This album is Ultimate HXC!,
This review is from: Wake the Dead (Audio CD)
This is an absolutely amazing album. I bought this cd after hearing "Wake The Dead" on the Victory Records sampler disc. The song was like a punch in the face and I could not ignore it. With it's gang vocals and melodic tones I found myself humming it all of the time. This has quickly became one of my favorite cds of 2005 and I have also now purchased "Turn It Around" as well. I look forward to seeing these guys in concert next month. If they hold it down live like what this cd boasts my head will probably explode! If you are a fan of Hardcore buy this album! If you are not a fan of Hardcore still buy this album and maybe if you like AFI you will dig this as well!

Freaking awesome...,

I haven't been this excited about an album in years. Every song is great, it's so intense. Comeback kid reminds me of a cross between Hatebreed and AFI. I'm dying to see these guys live. If they put half the energy into their live show as is on this album, it will put all others to shame.

Is that metal in my hardcore?,
By Destroy Boy (www.ohboydestroy.com) - See all my reviews

First off, this follow up to their debut "Turn It Around" is impressive. They deliver all the promise of their debut effort here in spades, making this one of the best melodic hardcore records in recent memory. I was a little worried they might hit the dreaded sophomore slump but one listen crushed those fears like skulls beneath tank tread. It's got heavier breakdowns, catchier melodies and tighter songwriting which is all the more impressive given the high bar they set on "Turn It Around".
Like their last record, purists can certainly argue that the rampant use of metallic breakdowns or powerful melodies aren't really "hardcore" per se but I view Comeback Kid as a more metal version of Good Riddance, who were equally expert at delivering solid balls out hardcore and catchy melodic songs on the same record. Still, I can see some people not appreciating this as it does toe the line between these two styles so you really have to like both to really dig this record. So if you've never mixed a bit of metal or melody with your hardcore (is that your chocolate in my peanut butter?) this is probably the best place to start. The breakdowns are as tasty as they come and the melodies are BIG. My only complaint, no surprise here given it's a hardcore record, is the album length. This one clocks in at barely 25 minutes. Given the short songs these guys write, they should look to putting at least 15 songs on a record so you feel like you're getting more for your money. Still, I can think of a lot worse ways to blow your hard earned loot. Check out more reviews at ohboydestroy.

They own so much!,
By Kill Your Heroes "Let's Burn This Down Tonight" (Lockport, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wake the Dead (Audio CD)
This cd is just pure intensity. From the start to the finish it never slows up and Im glad it was short because hearing it live is a trip. Whoever tried to compare CBK to Underoath and As I Lay Dying, your an idiot. I love both of those bands but they are not in the same sub genre as CBK. They are old skool hardcore.
And if mr im busy and dont wanna register wants to step into a CBK pit thinking they suck as much as Sum 41 he'll get knocked down and trampled. Those pits are insane because the guy has such a great voice and the band goes crazy. If you like old skool hardcore or bands like Bane and With Honor pick this up. You will not be disappointed.
