5.0 out of 5 stars Metal of astronomically epic proportions!, October 12, 2007
This album is exactly what you'd expect from Rosetta. Fans of The Galilean Satellites will have absolutely no trouble giving in to the epic and engaging music on this album. Although Wake/Lift may not have the continuity from track to track as TGS did (although it does have the 3-part "Lift"), it does have some of the best music Rosetta has put out. My personal favorite on the album being "Wake". The album delivers with Rosetta's classic mix of soothing and sonic. From the mellow drowned out drums of "(Temet Nosce)" to the Monolithic crush of "Monument". I highly recommend Wake/Lift to any Rosetta fan. This is what I had waited so long for. It's all I wanted it to be and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Travel through space and sound, February 10, 2008
I cannot say enough about this album and this band. When I first received this cd I listened to it for almost a week straight without listening to anything else. It contains almost equal parts brutality and tranquility. The ambience and soundscapes are extremely entrancing and the heavier parts are equally hypnotic. With indistinguishable vocals that serve to bring out even more raw emotion and atmosphere. A must have for any fans of post-rock/post-metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first album!, September 9, 2008

If you like Isis and Mouth of the Architect you'll love this album. The vocals are well back in the mix and like most post-metal are unintelligable anyway. They just add some angst to the epic riffs that progress over time through each song. Unlike one of the other reviews, I think this album was produced better than the first. It seems to have more layers of sound, especially with headphones. I've been listening to this album for over a week straight both in the truck and at work on my headphones and I hear new things all the time. I think a lot people disgard post-metal as just a bunch of noise, but its just very complicated and dense - it takes many listens to really get into it. I think my favorite song at the moment is Lift Pt 3. One of the shorter songs on the album it hits pretty hard.

This is a great album. I only gave it 4 stars because TGS is absolutely perfect. It took some getting used to the way this album was produced because the vocals are much more part... Read more
